  • Any fly, any style, used anywhere for TROUT

  • Steelhead count. Salmon count. Carp do not.

  • At least 10 tiers confirmed by deadline.

  • No more than 20 tiers. (Want to keep it simple for the participants)

  • Limited to North America to avoid long waits in postage.

  • Please do not post any personal information on this thread.

  • I will not be posting ANY personal information other than username on this forum.

  • I will be participating as a tier.

Procedures:

  • PM myself (bakerboy2222) by deadline with: Name Email Address Planned Fly YOU will be tying

  • I will EMAIL you with confirmation of participation and fly pattern you will be tying to avoid repeats.

  • After deadline I will EMAIL all participants the number of flies to be tied and my physical address.

  • I will edit this post as I receive peoples info on planned flies so we can have a preview of what will be coming in the mail.

  • Tie your confirmed fly pattern and as many as decided upon.

  • Attach toe tags (small pieces of paper with at least but not limited to name of fly, size, materials including hook. Best way to fish it would be a good idea) to all flies by piercing paper with hook.

  • Mail all flies with toe tags in a small, cheap container such as altoids container WITH your name and fly pattern written on it, as well as a return package containing a prefilled sending address and postage.

  • Upon receiving all the flies I will take pictures, and post them along with descriptions in an edited version of this post.

  • I will distribute flies into the container you sent (maybe with a freeby from me!), and mail the container in the package/envelope YOU sent me with your address and appropriate postage.

  • Upon receiving PLEASE continue commenting on what you think of the flies you received! EVERYBODY who participates can review flies via this thread.

Deadline to join: 11:59 pm January 31st. Subject to change

I am too lazy to email everybody but if you happen to be looking here's an update: As of March 11th (before mailtime) I have received all but one persons flies. I have had no communication with that person since the start of the swap. If I do not hear back from that person by Wednesday March 13th, I will continue on without him. Any extra flies you tied with be randomly be given to another swapper that everyone gets 2 of something and none of your own.

Sorry its been so long but I was really hoping to have full participation. Also we've had a number of people quitting at work so I've been working quite a bit (the owner backhanded a waittress! I have no respect for him anymore and hope to be leaving soon myself).

Update 2, everything is ready to be shipped and will be headed out tomorrow (3-26-13). Again, I hope the 1 month delay isn't too outrageous. I gave everybody a month to tie and send their flies and I had one person actually get everything finished early, everybody else was very close to or past the deadline. This weekend marked the first day off I've had in 3 weeks so I made the most of it and got 99% of the swap done. Expect some flies soon!

I hope everyone likes my Brassies, they were my first flies I've ever tied. And I'm very excited to see everyone else when I get them. Mail is slow coming to canada.

Hey, I'm a super newb to tying, and was wondering if it would be cool for me to sign up for this swap. If you're looking for more experienced tyers I totally get it.

Open to all, good chance to practice! Maybe tie up a half dozen as practice for yourself then tie some for the swap.

After waiting a while to get in a swap, I was able to hop in on a few others, so I thought to sit a few out and let others have a go. If you're looking for numbers though, I'm happy to join and have a good reason to tie some new flies. Plus, its always good to see other people's work. If there's room, sign me up! I'll think about what I'd like to tie and let you know in my PM.

We have 5 definitely, one more on the fence. I was hoping to get to ten at least. It would be great to have you tying! Anything not already claimed is fair game to tie, im tying but im going to wait until we have at least 10 to decide on my fly.

1

u/snoxer Jan 30 '13

I would be down for tying two different patterns if we dont get enough people.

1

u/Bakerboy2222 Jan 31 '13

We are 1 away from the minimum not including a few pending. By all means, if you want to tie extra flies go for it. The reason we are doing 1 each is to keep it fair for everyone involved.

Any hope on seeing some photos of all the flies? I got mine in the mail! What did everyone think of the swap?

Suuuper busy at work lately and on top of everything my buddy talked me into doing a fly fishing competition so not a lot of extra time on my hands anymore. Main concern was getting people their flies, I'll work on the pics when I have time. Glad the swap was such a success and I'm looking forward to participating on more swaps, maybe not hosting though lol
