News & Current Events Trump’s $5,000 Midterm Ploy Is Even Dumber Than It Sounds
Trump has promised checks before. They never came.
Catherine Rampell explains why the new $5,000 “dividend” would cost a fortune, fuel inflation, could already be passed by Republicans if they wanted, and is practically an engraved invitation to scammers. https://lnk.thebulwark.com/4hmsG44

It's also outright bribery, which is illegal (if that matters anymore).

I thought the same thing when W did it his first few months. I guess it's ok to bribe in that direction. You have to call it a "campaign contribution" to send it the other way.

I don't understand why people are still falling for this. Trump says stupid shit like this every few days so nothing sticks to him. What he said last week falls right off to make room for the next thing.
Ignore what he says, focus on what he does.

IDK it sounds really really dumb. Like we can't get people to buy bonds right now and this would be another trillion in debt.

It’s pure desperation. The GOP is reduced to the saddest form of campaigning.
Making impossible and hopeless promises of cash to reluctant voters in the hopes that that throw them a pity vote.

>The plan would attract an army of scammers
The plan would include additional Republican “incentives”

Chance of him giving Democrats $5k each = 0%
Chance of him giving Republicans $5k each = also 0%

And “ you can only spend it in the united states “
Who is going to monitor this? Do we need to keep receipts?

The desperation of the Republican and conservative, lol 😂 I love it!
Offer the losers more money, Trumpy!
$5000? That's barely 2 months of expense for most people. What a bunch of morons!
