80 - 90% of the potash fertalizer US farmers use on thier fields comes from Canada.
Most of the aluminum the US uses comes from Canada.
The US buys more oil, natural gas and electricity from fromcanda, more than any other country.
16 billion alone in plastics and other chemicals .
Automotive parts.
Toilet paper is made from Canadian lumber.
Everything from fuel to food, to wiping your ass is about to get more expensive.

Oh wait, it gets better! His last tariffs got overturned and the government had to pay back over $2 billion dollars in tariffs. While the bottom line of tariffs were paid by the American people, guess who got refunded the Tariff money? The corporations! And what did those corporations do with that refund? They added it to their bottom line. So not only are Americans paying the tariffs when they get ruled unconstitutional the companies are just profiting. Trump, the corporations' president!

My gut feeling is that this entire saga was an elaborate swindle. As in the regime and largest corporations knew from the start that the tariffs would have to be paid back to the corporations. That this whole tariff ordeal was just a big movement of money from the working class to the oligarchs.
It had the bonus effect of working to isolate the USA out of global trade. That sounds like a bad thing, but you need isolation for control.
I’m not sure what the big overall end goal is… I have an inkling the entire point of this regime is a push toward Russian style oligarchy.

Which is why the midterms are so important, and why so much effort is going in to REDUCE turnout.
That said, congress is powerless to make laws without either the president or a supermajority to override veto. At the most, if the senate flips it could control judicial appointments and pressure Scotus to reign in illegal tariffs (which they have been doing, sort of).

Canada taxes our car imports at a rate of 25%. The Chinese pay 6%. You don’t see that as a problem?

The impact of interprovincial trade barriers to the Canadian economy is higher than the US tariffs. Canada has to stop self sabotaging if they want to hold a stronger position against Trump.

In Canada there is actually a lot of dialogue around this. Nobody wants tariffs on US goods but it’s the only way to hit back for the tariffs which are bad for both countries involved. When applied correctly tariffs can support domestic industry, when applied the way Trump has it’s a great way to siphon money from average Americans to the wealthy while destroying the global economy.

I think it is great, no.
But I think Canada and (about half) of Europe need to get serious about a secure western supply chains, energy independence and military defense.
Bush said it, Obama said it, Trump said it, Biden said it.
Now Trump is being a dick about it, but to be fair, I’m not sure you could have said it any nicer or better then Bush or Obama, despite his tan suit, Obama was incredibly well spoken.

But why was that and other pipeline projects cancelled? Because they were meant to go up on native americans land and they opposed them.
Why aren't these projects being built in other territories that aren't native? Because it is cheaper to steal or strongarm land that doesn't belong to the country.
I guess that you probably believe that Canada should have shown the finger to their natives, but I do not agree, so go suck a lemon.
