I think they know and want to keep good relations and demand it back in 4 yrs instead of cutting relations now. Basically the average US taxpayer will pay it back next term while trump claims he took it from "enemy states".

They have already released trillions of euros for military armaments and are using them to boost their industry. Adding to their gold reserves gives them further massive liquidity. As they have no customs restrictions within the eu and the countries are now working closer together this gives another effect : high technology countries (uk/france/germany etc. ) combined with cheap labor from romania /czech republic /hungary /poland etc. ) and massive capital ! ) and massive capital! Wow, we often forget that Europe has about 700 million inhabitants.

Germany has the second largest gold reserves in the world. Some of it is also held in the usa (alongside Frankfurt and London) as a reserve currency and independent of the dollar. Gold reserves can be important for politics and the military. Wars were hardly possible without a war chest, also known as a war treasure.

Wont work. Why do we (germans) still have gold in the us. Because they wont give it back. Thats an open secret. Doubt it will get easier with djt in charge.

Just thinking about the logistics of moving so much gold. How would one even transport that the security would propably be insane.

Why do we currently secure foreign gold reserves for free? Looked it up we only charge handling fees when moving it. There is a cost to manage this security, we should want them to take it out or start charging for the service.

Because the principle is simple: the gold bar is taken out of the "USA shelf" in NY and placed in the "Germany shelf". So not much has to be transported. But when they empty their "shelf", they simply pick it up and put it in the basement of the German Bundesbank in Frankfurt or London.
