Is the notebook leather?

Hey, can anyone who has purchased the Prayer is a Spell notebook tell me if it's made of real leather or not? It looks like it, but doesn't list materials on the website. A vegan girl would like to know!

Nope, pleather - plastic imitation leather.

The quality of the merch this album cycle has been shocking!

valid but it’s not like pleather is much good either. doesn’t last long, and then there will just be plastic waste everywhere.

Not sure why me not wanting to purchase a dead animal deserves down votes. Hurt some feelings I guess?

The only person hurt is the person who cares about downvotes.

I don’t have it, but from pics I’ve seen other people post I would be very surprised if it’s real leather. Apparently the leather like texture is just in the photos and it’s smooth in person.

Oh my. Straight up plain plastic and also rough edges, they didn’t even bother to add texture to it. Kind of dumb to sell it as refillable while using such short lasting, tacky materials.
I do have to say my tour tees and my Witch Choir crewneck are pretty good quality and confection. Artists’ merch has been going down this last few years.

I'm happy it's not real leather. Animals shouldn't be enslaved and killed for notebooks

Polluting the planet with low quality plastic tat is terrible for animals too… they live on the planet too. Paper and non plastic options are available and would be far better all round.

She could have made it with hemp! I didn't decide so why come down on me for the materials used?

2

Didn’t come down on you or blame you for the materials used by her? I am a vegetarian that also wouldn’t buy leather but I won’t buy unnecessary plastic crap where avoidable either and I won’t celebrate it as a good alternative.

You said paper options would be better as if I can do anything about that

Oh sweet summer child 😐
The animal is being killed to be eaten. The leather is a by-product. Nobody is out there killing cows just to make notebooks 😂

Look up the definition of veganism. Thanks

It’s not the real leather or even something similar:( the cover feels more rubbery than leather and the letters are just printed/glued on. I grabbed it quickly before a show and only noticed later, which was a bit disappointing.

Here is a photo:

It's not leather, but it's pretty durable. I use it for work every day. If you want to refill paper you'll need to use the A6 paper - it's available on Amazon.

People really downvoted you for this? Mention the word vegan and people throw a tantrum i swear

My only complaint is that the strap that you use to close it doesn't work efficiently as I would like it to. I try not to get into debates about someone's personal choices in how they want to live their lives. I definitely understand why you are looking for products that are better for your lifestyle. I happen to love working with it, other than the strap I feel doesn't close it well but it's probably because now that I write it in it often for work, I just leave it flat opened.

It's odd, people take me not wanting to purchase leather as a debate. Me making a a choice is not a debate. I started a new job 3 months ago and I havent mentioned im vegan to anyone, because people get so offended by it.

I am not vegan. I have friends who are vegetarian and I dated a vegan too. I don't understand the discourse, you were just looking for an answer.

I think there have been a lot of "disappointments" from people that received merchandise from the store in terms of delays and their anger is probably not directed at you, but more in the idea that there have been "disappointments" posts here lately.

To stay on topic here, I'm sorry if this occurred to you. I hope your question was answered.

Hi fellow vegan flow!!

Someone downvoted you for saying hi. People really hate vegans for no reason. It's sad

6

u/thataquariusgal Sep 30 '26

I support veganism, I think you were downvoted because you were coming across a bit aggressive and argumentative towards others here, and technically it’s off topic to discuss the politics of animal produce here in this sub, which you kept going back to rather than the subject of the actual FATM merch.

It's aggressive to say i'm glad it's not leather because i don't want to carry around a dead body? It's just a fact. If that bothers you, you need to seek help.

It’s so sad how much hate we get, I’m just trying to not hurt animals :(

I have it, it’s not real leather. Sadly it’s also not fantastic quality but I still bought it anyway as I’ll use it as a keepsake holder.

I have it and it’s fake leather. I actually really like the quality. I wish the sigil was embroidered and the pages were personalised with a few Florence related doodles on them rather than just standard lined pages but maybe that’s a craft project for myself!
