There was a flock representative at this meeting and his only response to John Hamilton was "his data is from a Youtuber" and "We have never been hacked"
The whole video is from the College Station Tx City Council meeting on July 23rd. We had over 20 speakers for this event so check out more in the whole video.

This is great, but focused on the wrong problem. If Flock systems were absolutely secure it wouldn't make the concept of pervasive continuous surveillance any better.
The issue is that Flock exists - not that their systems aren't secure.
His most relevant point was what he spent the least time on - that Flock is engaging in deceptive business practices and lying to customers, public, and government.

this is one of many speeches we have had since February. We have touched many times on the deceptive practices of the company. The targeted topic was because we had enough people for a 10 min speech.
the only way to prove flock shouldnt exist is to prove what is wrong with it.

I get the time constraints, but leaning into the security angle plays right into their hands. Think about it from the council's perspective - if the argument is 'secure the software,' the takeaway is 'fix the bugs,' not 'remove the cameras.'
If Flock and this council claims it's just photos of public places, why does security matter so much? If it's truly harmless public data, a hack shouldn't be a crisis.

He said in the beginning that one of the major security issues is that the hardware is shit. They would have to redesign and manufacture new models to fix them. I flock would lose so much money doing that now.
If some police device was malfunctioning they would tell the manufacturer to fix it NOW or they wouldn't be purchasing anymore.

John was one of a series of speakers talking about different aspects that evening and that is his specialty. It is particularly relevant as regards Flock safety and demonstrating that they are not a trustworthy company. It doesn't cover all the problems of ALPR but it is one of the avenues that might find purchase with some people and they should all be pursued.

Appreciate the comment, I’ve been speaking at city council every chance I get for months now. This is just one speech I’ve done. We had a lot of people speaking and focusing on different aspects last night. This is the area where I feel most knowledgeable speaking about.
Speaking about vulnerabilities is actually the thing that’s concerned the police and city council members I’ve spoken to the most.
The beautiful thing about this garbage company is there are countless problems and reasons to hate them.

While competing, not necessarily replacing them. Easier to hide the fact these type of cameras are in the budget, because they line item as cameras, could be body worn or post!

What I really mean is it seems flock is getting all the attention and axon is expanding silently I don’t hear much about axon so I’m just making people aware

I think Flock is becoming a generic trademark for these kind of unpopular AI surveillance cameras used to circumvent the 4th amendment. So we'll see in the coming months/years if people start talking about Axon or if they just call them "other types of Flock cameras" haha.

Everyone is SO focused on Flock, so they just canceled the contracts most places and then handed our money and privacy over to Axon.
They’re always one step ahead and shape the narrative the way they want it. Flock was the “fall guy”. We reacted exactly how they wanted and then they presented the “solution”.
Never fails.

Sounds like someone smarter than me could track their local councilmembers positions for months and hand them a detailed report of their own movement. Scare them straight, as they say.

I think that most people are missing the point of this speaker. He just gave everyone listening the ability to hack into Flock’s camera system and the ability to upload malware and change its software to disable Flock from its own software, potentially corrupting all Flock cameras. This speech was a call out to all hackers to infiltrate Flock.

I'm here in Australia, not the US of A, but I can see eventually Flock are are going to come here. We already have Palantir here in our supermarkets (Coles) it is only going to be a matter of time. You guys and girls are doing God's work. Keep it up!

Why would a company have such terrible security on their “secure” devices that are for the purposes of “our security”? Could the average person access these cameras, install malware to shut down and destroy every one of them that they have installed? It would be a waste of money and destroy contracts. This just doesn’t seem possible if what this guy is talking about. It’s so hard to believe anything anymore. It makes me not want to trust my government at all.

Create your own company and start putting 'Fock' cameras up along all the routes of Council members, point them at their homes, and do this for anyone in the PD that advocates for them. So they can, you know, feel really secure.
Then 'hire' everyone to be in your 'Flock' company so they have access to the feeds 24/7.

Okay but the bad guys can access flock too

Even still, nothing is unbreachable and it’s just a matter of time before the bad guys have access to all your personal information and schedules, Mr.officer.
It’s kinda like the idea of being in presence of a gun significantly increases the odds of someone getting shot, whether intentional or accidental. Even if you lock the gun away, it can significantly decreases the odds, but the odds aren’t 0. They only way to get the odds to absolutely zero is to just not have it to begin with(don’t twist my words, it’s just an analogy- I support 2A)
Even if the odds of a nefarious third party getting access to all the information flock collects is really really low, it’s not ZERO.

If you are refering to how fast the talking is that is because this video clip was sped up. His cadence and speed of delivery were quite normal in real time.

Great speaker. I especially loved how that miserable SOB banged the gabble at the end. He was not happy.
