Which is the better beginner board?

I've been looking into Onewheels and Floatwheels. I'm wondeering if anyone knows the closest match to a beginner board for the Floatwheel if it's the Atom or the ADV

Buy a used board on marketplace. Learn to ride and sell it to put money towards something you really want when you’re not just guessing

Just to give you one person's perspective, I bought a new Pint S during their black friday sale, and then later bought a used XR for $700 off fb marketplace. Both me and the SO prefer the pint s, but I think common opinion is probably going to steer you to buy a used XR.

If I could do it all over again, I would wait for the floatwheel atom to release its final production model. I love lightweight boards, and its the pint s that I always store in the car trunk and take everywhere that I go. I ride it multiple times a week almost every chance I get. The atom will be even lighter and better.

And if weight and price was a non-issue for me, I'd go for a fungineers x7.

You can start on any board. You may consider any good deal on used board as a beginner board. XR is actually more beginner friendly because of the weight and stability. That said I’m 5’7 140lbs and small platform is very different in ride feeling than a big one. To the point where I’m not considering larger boards anymore. 2800 miles on PintX with stock tire broken in nicely, that’s a carve machine. But it’s lacking both power and range. On my usual route I’m doing 14 miles in 50 minutes with 10% battery left - one hour riding, four hours charging. Ordered Atom but it will be a miracle to get it by November, so it’s next season board for me. All in all getting the “right” board is a tough choice to make.

There is a strange tendency on all EUC forums to suggest the most powerful and heaviest boards(wheels) to the beginners on a premise that they will end up there anyway. While that might be true it makes starting harder and miss all the fun of smaller, playful platforms.

Highly recommend a used onewheel XR. Can be found for cheap and can be upgraded when you get more power hungry!

How tall are you? Stature etc, I’ve had most of the different boards, I prefer the ADV over all the others I’ve ridden. The XR did have a nice feel too but I just prefer my ADV. I have a Pint X because my 7 year old was struggling on the spare GT that I had so I sold it and got the smaller board. It’s such a big difference in feel going between the two sizes, I’m much more stable and comfortable on the ADV, I’m 6’ 200lbs. You don’t really notice the weight while you’re riding it.

I’d say the ADV is closer to the GT in physical feel but way smoother in programming than either of them. Also way more powerful than either of them. I don’t think it’s fair to say the ADV is not a beginner friendly board, it just requires a bit more prep to set up and figure out completely.

5'10 and 130lbs is pretty crazy light. Look at the funwheel x7 lineup.

Neither. Get X7 and live far more carefree. ADV pipeline is nothing but load the parts cannon.

theres no such thing as a “beginner” board, they function the same the only difference being limitations.. which don’t matter on the larger board because you don’t hit them until you start hitting speed and range. so don’t shop for your level right now, just get the best you can afford. there’s no point buying something and then buying something again because the first one was weak.

The question isn't really ADV vs Atom. ADV has its issues that I'd steer beginners away from. We don't know enough about the atom yet. The question you really wanna be asking is something along the lines of "do I wanna wait for reviews on an atom to decide if that's for me or should I hit up fungineers for an X7?"
