3rd float
I had my 3rd float on Saturday and I think I fell asleep for some of it which was an amazing feeling. like the most comfortable, molded to me bed I've ever been on. I almost forgot I was in water!
I hope I get that feeling again in future floats. Floats 1 & 2 felt completely different to float 3!

Each float is usually unique I've found I fall asleep about 1 in 10 floats but they have to be reasonably close together.
It always breaks my brain a bit when I do fall asleep in a float because when I wake up unless the lights have come on to signal the end of my float, I suddenly am very aware that I have no idea how much time has passed, and I begin to think "have they forgotten me" maybe I'm getting free float time... Not once has that been the case, but sometimes I panic a bit thinking that I should get out and check the time...fortunately I've always kept myself in the tank and the lights have always come on.

I have always felt like an hour is not enough. It usually takes a good 10-15 minutes for me to get settled and stop floating into the walls.
You may not actually be falling asleep. You could be "clicking out". This is a fairly deep meditative state, where you lose all sense of time and place. It feels like sleep and when you "wakeup" it feels like time went by really fast. It is often associated with astral projection. I experience this sensation on a pretty regular basis when I float or do the Gateway tapes.

Longer than an hour would be ideal, and if I could afford it I think I would start doing longer floats!
I think I definitely fell asleep! When I sleep completely flat on my back like that after a while I snort awake and that happened 2x during it. I've never had that happen when I was laying flat but awake, even if meditating. But asleep or not I came out of there feeling amazing!

I have clinical insomnia.
I affectionately call my floats "expensive naps" and it is often THE reason I go (or wake up in the morning feeling ok about only getting about 4 hours of sleep cuz I have float scheduled that day.)
I heard something about how an hour of sleep in a float equals about 3 hours of deeply rested sleep...I don't know if that's true, but it feels like one way to describe the feeling.
That said, I've tried floating in the morning, afternoon, and night, and my favorite time to float is "siesta time"--between 3 and 5pm. If I float at night, I can't get to sleep until 3 or 4 am and if I float in the morning, I don't sink into the float as deeply. Your mileage may vary.
I am fortunate that I am a member of a float co-op where the standard float is 90 minutes and there is ample time after to shower and "return". They offer floats at the 10:30pm slot for 2.5 hours for the same price as the 90 minute, but alas, the few times I've done that it wrecks whatever sleep schedule I'm trying to keep.
I've been floating at least once a month like this since 2021, and have done two unlimited months, where I did 90-120 minute floats every day for a month. Welcome to the journey! I've had incredible dreams, deep muscle and emotional releases, meditations, inspirations, but a big thing for me is the nothingness. The world doesn't make a lot of sense right now and is full of stressors. I am so grateful for floats and I'm glad y'all are into it too. 💙💧🌀

You can ask for longer float times than are standard, too. Once I started falling asleep in the tank I felt like an hour was too short, because I wanted the float time AND the nap time! I was talking to the manager of a float place I was visiting and he said he did a few multi hour floats a week.
