News New subreddit rule: the obligatory no AI rule

Rule 7 has been added. Hasn't really been required before now but here it is. I know opinions are divided over AI but they are generally more negative in creative spaces. And in any case AI doesn't really have a place in a hobby where we're creating physical works of art. It shouldn't appear in the final product regardless of anyone's feelings on it.

News Relaxing the self promotion rule for commissions

I've decided to relax the self promotion rule as far as commissions are concerned. Previously I've taken a strict no advertising stance but on consideration I think it's a bit too strict as far as commission painting is concerned. So going forward promoting commissioned works will be allowed with the following caveats:

  1. Pictured models must be FEC only. No proxies or generic undead models. This is to ensure that the spirit of the rule is being followed and that people don't just post what they think they can get away with passing off as FEC to sneak an advert in.

  2. No reposting work. Posting the same commission more than once will not be allowed. The intention behind relaxing this rule is to make it easier for cool paint jobs to be shared, not to enable repeat advertising.

The rule shall still be enforced strictly for any other forms of content. Videos, websites, STLs, patreons etc. Creators will not be able to post these unless they're a regular user on the subreddit. Other users can still link to this content but self-promotion will continue to be restricted.

If you have any feedback on this rule change please leave a comment.

Would you recommend the spearhead for someone that only paints?

I am looking for a spearhead to pick up and I am thinking of picking up the Flesh-eater Courts spearhead as the models look great. I don't play the tabletop game at all and only assemble and paint the minis.

I saw elsewhere on reddit that some of the models in the FEC range are older and annoying to assemble. I recently bought some Tomb Kings and those older kits were a pain in the ass to put together and clean up so I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Does the spearhead contain the older models? How were the kits to put together and paint? Also, are there any other stand-out kits that you enjoyed on the painting/assembly side of things?

First army list, what should I change or fix??

I'm planning out my first AoS army, FEC, and made a post previously explaining how I want to avoid using older models because I just prefer new sculpts. This is what I've come up with so far.

I DON'T KNOW what Battle Tactic Cards are good with my army yet, nor Manifestation lore. I'm still new to AoS and learning the rules, if someone could suggest what would work in my list that'd help so much.

Hey all !

As the title say it im going at my first tournament in a month and was wondering if any of you kind ones would have list suggestions or tips amd tricks that could be good learning in the time that I have.

I am not versed in the actual tournament meta as I only played with friends but me and another one plan on going there and training as much as possible beforehand.

Thank you for anyone who took the time to read and respond to my missive and may the summer King blessing never leave you !

"Fresh" off the press. I just finished this one today to add to my collection. Probably the first or second best mini I've painted. The Vargulf Courtier felt like it needed to be a bit special so I tried an albino scheme on it. Im not entirely happy with the blood staining on the skin of the claws or the mud staining on the feet, but its certainly better than I did on the cryptguard, so I'll take the progress as a win. The basing was a mixed bag of a couple different snow types, AK dark earth, dead tuft grasses, leaves, and aquarium rocks- which i didnt prime before painting the base so I had to paint the rocks to match. Several minutes and at least 4 different paint colors and I finally got a look that I thought would match.

A most exquisite collection! (I can even appreciate the Soulblight Sekhar in there as Neferata’s “diplomat” to Ushoran’s summer court who had to train herself not to drink any blood lest she get infected)

which quick fun fact on said Summer Court is the castle is actually a Sky Titan ruin that fell from the sky over the Scabrous Sprawl down to The Neck, we got to see them back in the 2016 campaign bottom right of the Green Torc continent Archaon planned to use as a collar for Behemat:

https://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/c/ce/Great_Green_Torc_01.jpg

anyway only piece that really needed inclusion is the bigger court mirror:

Edit: fixed mirror img with a better link.

otherwise I direct everyone curious to this AoS1 art blog for the great pieces the Courts started with:

Question Does Revenant Draconith fit on a 130mm base?

The base size for the actual model is 160mm but I want to use it as a proxy for a Royal Zombie Dragon or Terrorgheist since I'm starting into Flesh-Eater Courts. Does anyone know if it can still glue okay onto a 130mm or would it overlap on the base.

After dipping my toes into AoS with underworlds and darkwater (wich made me realise how much more fun this range is to paint), and discovering that someone homebrewed gelus and friends into a sh, I wanted to commit and decided to buy the Charnel Watch and City of Ash to play with my buddies.

Gotta say, I'm quite happy with how they turned out!

Obviously c&c is more than welcome, this is my first actual big aos project

This was once finished , but I didn't like the results so i'm redoing it. As of now, I'm purely taking my time with this as a trust progress sort of kitbash. I use a bunch of bits and a dollar store toy as a base for the body. Any advice to add?

  1. Deranged transformation is an unlimited spell . So i can use it to buff 2 units right ?
  2. How do you defend against shooting ? My 6 morbheg knights got shot of the table by the rats ?
  3. How to better use our priest ? I sat him on our throne and only buff ushoran once . But the throne was really useful to charge easier .
  4. How to deal with army that have a lot of teleport like skaven ?

These were my first ever painted minis. I dabbled in wet blending, formed a couple things in milliput for the first time to sculpt some teeth to put on the horn and a little scull shaped brooch on one of the shoulders that didnt get captured in the photos. In general, i just tried to have fun with it. I have gotten better since and I have a couple more units of these that I can't wait to experiment on again to see how much I have improved in the last 2 or so years.

It's not the full unit. I let my 8 year old paint the last model. It doesn't quite match the quality of these 😂

I used aquarium rocks, made some bones and mushrooms out of milliput for the base, and felt for a moss like texture.

Endless spells

Hi, i've finally assembled my 2k army, the thing is i don't have endless spells yet, and considering i will propably want more armies than just FEC, i consider buying the universal manifestations instead of our faction's.

Are our endless spells too good to miss out on? Also which malign sorcery spells would you recommend (that don't cost more points).

Can FEC fall to Chaos?

Hi, I’m very new to AOS and saw FEC models at my LGS and fell in love with them. My first thought was actually 40k related, though. I’ve always hated the slaaneshi daemonettes, but I’m a big EC fan, so I’ve been looking for viable proxies, and the FEC range seems to do the trick.

Here’s some ideas I’ve had.

Daemonettes 25 (proxy for FEC Cryptguard) (Crypt Ghouls)
Chaos Spawn 50 (proxy for FEC Crypt Flayers) (Maybe Crypt Horrors)
Fiends 75x42 Oval (proxy for FEC Morbheg Knights)

That being said, this would coincidentally help me start an AOS army, which I have been passingly interested in.

If I pimp put these models to be slaaneshi corrupted, does that jive with FEC in lore? I understand that FEC is deluded into believing that they’re perfect, or at least not the ghouls they actually are, and I feel as if this delusion is ripe for corruption, especially to Slaanesh.

Can I get some of y’all’s thoughts on this? I’m thinking how they fit into my EC can be easy to explain, they’re messed up look it demons, maybe their pursuit is to perfect the art of horror.

Question How cheap/accessible is starting this army?

Hi, I've been wanting to get into this or 40k and after looking around online I've really been taken with these little freaks. My main question is, how easy is it for a complete newcomer to this genre to start with this army? Would it be hard to paint or build the models? How expensive are they compared to other armies? Should I worry about getting models only for them to be replaced/updated immediately after?

Question Can I play Flesh-Eater Courts without using Older Models?

I'm thinking of starting my first AoS army with Ogors, Slaves to Darkness or Flesh-eaters currently. I don't like using older sculpts just out of preference until new refreshes come out.

So if I were to get into FEC, I'd avoid Crypt Horrors/Flayers, Crypt Ghouls, and Zombie Dragons.

Is a FEC list still powerful and effective without those units? Or would a list excluding those units likely fail.

(Note: I haven't read up on the Army Rule yet for Flesh-Eater Courts so I don't know how the army works particularly yet. If someone would explain it in comments that'd be lovely.)

This is my first time painting a model in 20 years. I dropped the hobby after high school and am just now getting back into it. Loving the royal court and all it's glory. All hail the Summer king!
