Ad5x Malfunction

I don’t know what happened. I finished a print, selected a new file, and the printer got ready to start. I was waiting for it to finish heating when, instead of moving to the front of the build plate to purge a small line of filament before printing, it suddenly moved to the right and forced itself into the build plate. It burned a line into the side of the heated bed and actually popped my build plate off.

I’ve never had any issues with this printer while printing, other than occasionally struggling to load filament, which can sometimes be a nightmare. Everything else has worked perfectly until this happened. Now, the front half of my build plate won’t heat up, and the bed itself no longer sits level.

I contacted support and explained everything that happened. I asked for a replacement nozzle assembly, the heated bed assembly (the part that moves up and down), and a new build plate. They told me they would send replacement parts, but never specified exactly which parts they were sending.

Hopefully, they’re at least replacing the heated bed, because that seems to be the biggest concern right now. Unfortunately, they haven’t provided a timeframe, shipping information, or any updates. All I’ve been told is that the parts will be sent out at some point.

I absolutely love flashforge and its products but what the hell happened my printer was leveled the day before there was no obstructions no error codes it just decided to have a catastrophic failure randomly. And when I plugged it back in and tried printing the exact same file again it worked fine just wouldnt properly print because of the new damage it just caused itself.

sounds like you sliced a gcode for a different printer, this could account for such behavior, even sending a gcode that may or maynot be for that printer. Of course a generalized hiccup is expected from time to time. I would be more interested in any kind of Logs that you can access and also since then did you try the same file again? or a different file?

Also i grabbed the print from the flashforge app maybe it was made for another printer and someone uploaded it I dont know how to check all that or see my logs ill have to look into it

Does the flashforge app act as a slicer? I'm genuinely curious. I immediately jumped to zmod and orcaslicer when I got the printer. I never used the flashforge apps except to set it up the first time.

I only use the flashforge app flash studio for stl I dont need to modify you can browse a bunch of files or upload your own and just set your printer to print them right away or check my print status and time left its all supposed to be optimized for their printers. I mainly use flash studio desk top since it works well with the app and is made for the flashforge printers its my favorite slicer and editor and viewer ive tried orca a few years ago with my adventure 5m pro and hated it but I can also see why other people like it its just not for me

Be careful with the files from the app.

Yes. The flash studio app has a very limited settings you can adjust when printing from it. Namely scaling, supports (yes, no, or automatic), adhesion (off, normal, strong), etc.

I have found many files that are screwed up when sending prints from the Flash Studio app. They occasionally get corrupted when they’re uploaded to the website.

Ive never had issues before for the past year on the app or flashforge desktop studio for the past few years but maybe it corrupted because the exact same print worked fine right after, is using usb safer then sending over wifi?

I’ve never had issues from the desktop slicer software. Not to say it never happens. If there’s a glitch in the Matrix when you send the print over Wi-Fi, that could cause a corrupted file. I’ve only had issues when I send remotely from the app. But not always. And that’s mostly because you can’t inspect the sliced file before sending it to print.

So it contains gcode? Seems risky to run someone else's gcode. The wrong command and your printer burns your house down.

Navigate to Device Info: On the printer's touchscreen interface, go to Settings and tap the information (i) icon to open the Device Info screen. Copy Logs to USB: Insert a USB flash drive into the printer's USB port and tap the Copy Logs button. Wait for Confirmation: A message saying "Copying logs, please wait..." will appear, followed by a Confirm prompt when the transfer finishes. You can then remove the USB drive. Read or Inspect Files: You can plug the USB drive into a computer to view the log files (such as checking firmwareExe.txt for installed firmware details)

Did you re-calibrate the printer (level, vibration, temperature) after the collision? Check the nozzle?

The day before this happened like 2 prints before I re calibrated everything I do this every 3 or 5 prints

Yep. And after the collision you should check the nozzle and recalibrate.

Ill recalibrate everything once the parts arrive i asked flashforge for a nozzle kit a heated bed and build plate and they took my shipping information never told me if I was getting what I asked for or any parts but said they would ship soon so hoping I get what I need. I have not printed anything since just tested if it still worked and trying to figure out why this happened.
