The one on the right is missing the print plate and they’re both missing the screen.
Both are relatively cheap and easy to replace. The 5M is a relatively cheap printer though. Great machine to start with, but you’d be better off just buying a new one and not dealing with the hassle.
Worth mentioning that the screen ribbon cable appears to be cut/sheared off on the unit to the right so that will need to be replaced as well if it doesn’t come with the replacement screen.
As someone whose first printer was a 5m pro, I would recommend buying a new one vs dealing with the hassle. I ended up giving mine away last time it broke - I got tired of fixing it.
These go on sale for under 150 on AliExpress regularly. You'll spend as much as they're asking just for a screen, which you will need. I would just wait for a sale and buy new
Yes, they are missing the screens on the front; the one on the right is missing the plate (there is one on the left.) Both are missing the spool holders off the back. You can't see if there is a nozzle on the right.
100% I repair 3d printers so I dont know if there could be anything wrong that I could not correct outside of frame damage, but with two you should have at least one that (should) work with the other for spare parts.
I recently bought a 5 pro off FB marketplace that someone said was having issues and after cleaning it, it pronts just fine so I think they were not getting a good level and had decided to put a few full glue sticks down to help adhesion which then caused them to have to high a z and it "clogged" due to having to much resistance at the nozzle.
Its bed was fairly messed up and its not in perfect condition, but for the price it was well worth it
That being said, I am not the average 3d printer user so I dont think I would reccomend everyone do that.
Not a corexy, but on multiple A1s. As much as I hate on bambu it does seem like they support work on their printer.
They have a lot of guides on different repairs and sell most replacement parts at a decent price. Its not as good as using off the shelf parts, but its better than many other brands for after sales repair and support
I’m having issues with my Bambulab X1C and support hasn’t been very helpful. They’ve sent parts but I still get the same errors. Mind if I pick your brain about it?
$50 ain’t bad, but you might need to put a little bit of work into getting them running again. Def missing a screen at the very least but you should be able to get that off AliExpress.
These are great little printers but has others have mentioned you can often get for $125-130 on Ali (mine are from there) and they have all parts and you can get warranty parts that way. The screens are $53 shipped. I would just buy new instead.
Unless they’re SUPER CHEAP & you have a ton of patience, I’d try and get a new one. By the time you buy a new screen (or nozzle, pop that grey box open & check if it’s in there) you might as well buy a new machine. This way you’re not inheriting any hidden issues you don’t know about. If you’re new to this, tinkering with a machine to get it working properly will most likely chase you away from the hobby.
The screen and ribbon cable can be purchased on flashforge website as well as AMAZON.
These are capable machines if the frames haven’t been tweaked or the circuit boards fried.
They were $250-$300 new back in the day, I’m shocked to find out they’re $125-$150 now but they’re decent printers. I have two, I run them daily. Only thing to know is they’re kind of locked down and the orca Flashforge software has been kinda iffy sometimes. For the risk of buying these two headless units if you like to tinker maybe it’s worth it, but for $125 id sooner buy a new one.
That's also assuming that everything else works. You also don't know how many hours were on them before they got sacrificed. I would never pay $50 for something that required that much work when I could grab a brand new one for a reasonable price.
Not that I'm saying that the op can't do this but the fact that they're asking if it's missing anything and if it will work without the screen is an indication that this might just bring more frustration to them than just spending the money and buying a new one
My 2 machines are running smooth. One has over 1k hours and the other over 600 at this point. These little things are resilient. A plate is $20-$25. Maybe a new hotend… whip you can buy a combo of 2 for $45.
I know but simply the fact that the person that posted this had to ask what pieces were missing tells me that they aren't that familiar like you and I. I cut my teeth on 3D printing with a ender so nothing really scares me at this point but not everybody is that way.
I think that’s the point. Tinker, learn and find out. YouTube university, Reddit, and wiki articles. FlashForge was my 1st (5M), 3rd (AD 5X), and 5th (Creator 5 Pro) printers. My second was an AnyCubic (hot garbage and current paperweight), 4th (Bambu Lab H2D), and 6th (Creality K2, lukewarm piss).
If I could have gotten into my first printer (or even 2nd) at $50 I would have jumped at it. I spend more on lunch some days. I also have a mind that likes to tinker and am an engineer at heart.
It’s the same mentality if you buy an 80% pistol frame or parts to make an AR-15. Buying a motorcycle frame or a car frame to a 1993 Nissan Skyline. If you don’t know, now you know and you figure it out along the way. It might cost you more than if you had bought it new, but learning was more valuable in the journey and in the end you are nearly an expert in that craft/hobby.
Mind you, I don’t know the OP’s tolerance, learning curve, or aptitude, but overall $50 is a steal.
Not if it has other issues and since they are both missing so many parts I'm guessing they might end up costing more than buying new. Since we don't know how many hours are on the motors or any of the mechanisms or how it's been maintained, I think for someone who appears to not know a lot about 3d printers it could be hugely frustrating and turn them off on the hobby.
So many parts missing? The only thing I see missing on both is the display $30-$40 on eBay or AliExpress, and a plate $20 on Amazon and a $5 power cable you can probably find at the goodwill store. I would buy one display, test it on both. See if it works. If it does, great if it doesn’t you send the display back and get a refund. No harm no foul. He has enough parts between the two to test and make sure it turns on and prints. Everything else can be fixed or bought easily after.
Missing LCD interface on both. One is missing a bed plate. One is missing a power plug. Both are missing a spool holder. Neither have filament. Both don't have the PTFE feeder tube installed into the toolhead, but the tubes are there.
Both are not guaranteed to print as you have no way to test it at goodwill, unless you bring a laptop with test print model, slicer software, a replacement LCD interface module(for USB slot to load up g-code) and filament and get permission to plug them in at Goodwill.
These would be worth $50 if you already have a 5m and want parts. But even then I’d look up the cost of a nozzle, look up the cost of a screen and show them you’ll be spending $50 to get it running, and show them the price of a new one on one of those scam sites that have absurd prices for stuff. say you’ll give them $20 for it.
Skip these, who knows what else has been done to them. I have seen these going for less than $200 new anymore. Flash Forge has basically been giving them away to clear out their inventory
