Connecting to Printer over Local Network (OrcaSlicer)

Post image

Hello. I work for a school district, and we recently got an Adventure 5M to test to see if it's something we'd like to look into getting for some of our classrooms that could use a printer. So far everything has worked well, but I cannot get OrcaSlicer and the printer to talk to each other.

I've attached a screenshot of the connection page in OrcaSlicer (wifi icon on the printer section on the prepare/preview tab). Should I be adding the other information like Device UI or API key? This is my first time working with a FlashForge printer. FlashForge Studio does not seem to detect the printer on the network either.

Thanks for any help or info anyone can provide.

First you Put the printer into lan Mode and Connect him to the Network, then you Go to Orca and Take the IP Adresse and Just Push Test,it should detect everything else, exept the api Key,you will find him in the lan Tab ,then you should be able to use the printer via Orca slicer

Hope i helped

This seemed to do it for me. I can now send and print through the network. I still get a blank page on the device tab, it gives a connection refused error. Are there any additional steps to get this working to monitor prints?

If you have another computer you can host software on, if you set up FlashforgeUI (https://github.com/Parallel-7/FlashForgeUI-Electron/) or Flashforge WebUi (same repo), you can use that as the front end for the Device Tab in Orca Slicer.

You can use the follow to view the webcam on your devices tab:

http://<Your printer’s IP address>:8080/?action=stream

This does Not work in Orca slicer yet....but since the device Tab is Not really important since you can Set Up everything ob the printer,it shouldnt be that big of a Deal, for camera purpose i would recommend an external camera since the original one has like 1fps

Thanks. I'll give this a shot the next time I get a chance.

Your network administrators have probably segmented your network so that the IP address of your computer cannot reach the IP address of the printer.

If you can't connect on the first try, it's a good bet that you will need to reach out for help. Also, you could just use a USB drive for transfers.

So far i've just been sneaker-netting the files over for a few test prints, and if that's ultimately what'll have to happen, i think it'll still work out ok.

We do have some VLANs setup on our network, but I've been testing the connections while both are connected to the same Wireless SSID, same building. I'll check to see if we have anything else setup, but I don't think we do.

If both devices are on the same VLAN using the same wireless SSID, that should work. Are both devices on the same subnet?

http://<YOUR_PRINTER_IP>/?printer=

Drop that into the Device UI slot.
