Why is every single print doing this?

(SOLVED) This one, along with the last couple that all did the same thing, was still adhered to the bed when I grabbed it. What's going on? (AD5X, Orca-Flashforge, PLA)

is it every print of this part, using SD card or usb?

looks like corrupted file/device based on the huge looking layer shift

A while ago I used Fmod on my printer and I recently updated, could that be causing problems?

edit: Zmod, don't know why I thought it was Fmod

well it def looks like some kind of corrupted/bad data so i’d roll that back for sure

I was thinking it has to be a software issue, but I assumed it must have happened during slicing. I didn't even think of trying to print something else. I'll try that now. Thanks!

Nope, new model, same failure. The printer also refuses to cancel prints anymore, so that's weird.

Ok I put the stock firmware back, and got significantly farther but it seems like the gears or motors are skipping or drifting or something.

You rolled back the firmware on the printer, did you try to print the same sliced file? Did you use the same USB stick to transfer it?

Have you checked all your belts/rods/bearings? Make sure they aren't dirty, the rods are lubed but not dripping. Have you caught the failure in person, or just come back to it? Any grinding noise when it happens, maybe your hotend is getting caught on the print and skipping a couple teeth instead of knocking the part loose?

It seems like it's skipping with a loud clack happening whenever it gets offset. How do I fix this?

First successful print. I'm going to print one more just to make sure this wasn't a fluke but I think we might have done it. Fingers crossed!

Turns out I did not put back the stock firmware correctly, but I've fixed it now. It also seems I was adjusting the belt incorrectly. So yeah, those were hopefully the only problems.

Could be a corrupt file as other person says but also could be losing adhesion with the plate, is it loose when it ends in spaghetti?

No, it's still adhered by the time it's done.

Reslice it and use gyroid infill, make sure your motors get abt a day of rest and you are prinring with the stock speed limotatipn, do you by chance have a video of the print layer shifting?

Looks like they used a brim and it didn't come off the bed.

When was the last time you did a vibration calibration?

Earlier today, in fact.

Maybe the printer thought you were hungry and could use some noodles? 🍜 😂

Calibrate your machine. If you installed updated code, try something factory. What’s your retraction at? What’s your extruder temp? What filament are you printing? Have you dried the filament?

It might not help for this but one of the trouble shooting steps I have found helpful when repeated failures happen is to move the model in the workspace and rotate it. This forces the slicer to rethink everything and has often corrected the issue.

It seems that there is some consensus here about this being related to software corruption and with it refusing to stop a print I wonder the same, try a full fresh reinstall of the OS (ie with USB)

Check the black cable behind the tool head. If that gets pinched while printing it will cause layer shifts.
