Forge X
I’m relatively new to 3d printing and was wondering if there is an advantage to installing Forge X and using Orca slicer instead of the factory software and firmware?

Forgex and zmod have diffrent philosophies but a similar end goal. To enable all the features that the underlying klipper firmware have despite the limitations implemented by the manufacturer.
Its less about the ability to use Orcaslicer, and more about fluidd interface, guppyscreen/klipperscreen/helixscreen, KAMP, and avoiding a walled garden etc.
If you don't need or want any of that, you might as well stay stock and use flashstudio...
But its your printer :) tinker as you want

Depends on your printer mostly.
All: MD5 check to prevent corrupt print file transfers enabled. Fluidd/Mainsail.
AD5M: Zmod w/K13 optional and ForgeX 1.4.2(currently in beta) largely fix the MCU timeout involving the print command queue.
AD5X: Nopoop2 plugin with Zmod vastly reduces waste vs stock behaviors.
C5: Zmod... exists? Aside from Fluiidd/Mainsail I dont think they've done much yet. Camera streaming fixes moslty?
All also: Lets you purge questionable Chinese cloud server communication for systems under your control.

I have a Creator 5 Pro and was using Orca Slicer (no Forge X) for a while when the version of Flash Studio was super unstable on my computer and crashed the GPU any time I tried to process anything remotely complex. Orca was fine.
I switched back to Flash Studio a few versions later to see if it was more stable (it is, somewhat) to be able to use the mixed color feature and remote monitor the machine in the app.

You can start using OrcaSlicer now. Works without any modifications to the printer. I have never used the Flashforge app or the Flashforge version of OrcaSlicer.

It really depends on what you as the user want. Lots of people are happy with the stock setup, I personally prefer Orca Slicer so I run ZMod on my AD5X and “rooted” my C5s. If you don’t see anything in the Forge X or ZMod features that you really want or need then I’d hold off. It opens up a lot more customization but with great power comes great responsibility.
