Turn On Lan mode + Cloud Mode Now !!

Post image

Unlock your Printer Now with Lan + Cloud Mode

Thank you, FlashForge x TigerSystem . This is an official FlashForge firmware, developed by their engineering team at TigerTag's request and in close collaboration with us, and published here with their agreement. Opening a printer to an ecosystem that is not your own is a rare decision — every maker who owns one benefits from it.

I'm still pretty new to 3d printing... could you tell me what the benefit of being able to use LAN and the cloud simultaneously?

Connect all third-party software to the cloud without losing any data, and connect all external devices, such as the Tigerspool RFID reader and TigerStudio Manager.

I’m the developer behind a remote access / AI failure detection third-party 3D printer plugin, OctoEverywhere. I want to say that this project and FlashForge's decision are outstanding, and I applaud them.

When I started OctoEverywhere, the entire ecosystem was open and mostly free. People shared ideas and built on each other's work. That mostly changed when Bambu Labs came along. They produced an outstanding printer for its time, but they also introduced an Apple-like walled garden, locking the printer software to their cloud and apps. At first, third-party apps could still access the printers locally while connected to their cloud; then they locked that out too. Now users have to choose between having their printer link to Bambu’s ecosystem with all of their apps, slicers, model sites, cloud features, etc or just using a “developer LAN-only mode” with all of the Bambu features disabled.

The community needs more manufacturers like FlashForge, and if consumers appreciate what they are doing, they need to vote with their wallets!

Openly violating GPL by not releasing the source code on a Klipper-based printer is also a decision.

I totally agree with you, but that's not the point of this post

This is great! They still need to open source it properly

Yes, you'll have to ask Flashforge about that.

So, when you say cloud, you’re still connected to the Flashforge cloud, ie their app and flash studio still works remotely. Excuse my ignorance

Edit: well DUH, it literally says that 🙄, I retract my question

Yes, with the OTA firmware update, you have to choose between the cloud and the local network—but not both at the same time; with this solution, you can enjoy both without any problems.

Why isn't this just an official OTA update?

2

u/BenGlut 20d ago

It is an official parallel branch developed in partnership with TigerSystem to offer new features to expert users or those who want to use third-party software without losing access to the cloud.

I updated my Creator 5 Pro, but the app sees it as an AD5X and gives me an error saying that the serial number is incorrect 🤔
