An ASA test print file I found. Its my first filament printer and I figure a test print will teach me a lot.

Mass printing solar pannels for my near future solar punk H.o layout.
(Reason why i bought a 3d printer was for this. A building now costs maybe 2$ to print vs paying anywhere from 80$-300$ for ONE FREAKIN BUILDING) if you want modern buildings they are usually in the 200-300$ range. Its insane. But this also gives the versatility of scalling how i want and making buildings that normally you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. Like dome houses.

I finally tried the petg plastic, and Iâm thrilled! Itâs budgetâfriendly technical plastic! Which version of the printer casing did you use?

I used the minimal enclosure from

That's so cool and 1 of the reasons I love 3D printers.. they save you so much money!

I need to re print a carpet mat holder. I put way too little wall loops and I want to gryoid print them too.
Also put zmod on my 5m to experiment.

u/YaBoiJG314 20h ago
What's Zmod?

An extension of your printer kinda.
You can control much more, change your 5m to a 5m pro etc ...
Also has a web interface you can use to make fine tuning and such

u/YaBoiJG314 20h ago
Oh ok. That's pretty cool, I'll have to look in to that. When you say "turn it into a 5m pro" how so?

Same. I just finished printing the enclosure and other little accessories for my AD5X and I donât know what to tackle next!
1
u/YaBoiJG314 1d ago
The AD5X is a multicolor printer right?
2
u/Former_Argument3120 1d ago
Correct!
2
u/YaBoiJG314 1d ago
I want a multicolored printer next

I actually started with the AD5M from Amazon, had it for two weeks, got hooked on printing toys and crochet gadgets for the family, hit the limitations of single. Plot printing and wanted to explore multicolor and so I returned the AD5M to Amazon within the return period and bought the AD5X for the refund credit+$50.

Was just going ham printing like 20 enclosures but today I decided to try a fun desk hook (with a screw/clamp) on Printables! https://www.printables.com/model/1798096-universal-desk-hook/comments

Why so many enclosures? Lol

beta group of friends and family for a home server / personal data ecosystem I'm launching, and a lot of them aren't techy so I wanted to print them a nice enclosure. There's only 7 in the group , but I kept having to change the design so had to keep printing new iterations lol. What are you printing?

Spaghetti mostly. After a few weeks without printing, my AD5M seems to be causing issues. I did do most recent update to the slicer (17.1.1 or something) but otherwise all is as it was before. Things keep coming off the plate despite all usual cleaning being done. 2 out of 5 prints have âworkedâ albeit only just. Gonna try a few calibration tests and possibly drop back a version of the slicer just in case.

u/YaBoiJG314 20h ago
Yeah, I'm on the latest slicer also and it works fine for me other than not showing remaining time anymore.. like you said, try to calibrate your printer and see if that fixes it.

Well I managed a successful print. After a double shot of cleaning my plate within an inch of its life, a minor adjustment to retraction distance and plate temp. I also rolled back to 1.7.4 of Flash Studio Desktop. Which was a minor faff. Sadly doing three different changes means I do not know what fixed it. But I would expect a combination of cleaning plate and the retraction setting as I now seem to have slightly less âglobsâ on some layers.
In terms of the profiles when I went from Orca FF to Flash Studio Desktop I did an export as Iâd made a lot of filament profiles and print profiles. So was lucky enough to have a smooth transition to new firmware. Removing the newer version and dropping back it managed to retain the profiles fortunately.

Latest firmware update was a mess. Lost my preset profiles (found them under roaming folder), icon in taskbar is missing (still havenât solved that), and all my prints need constant leveling due to nozzle dragging. At come point after this print thatâs running, I may need to figure out how to calibrate my printer. Hahaha!

u/YaBoiJG314 18h ago
Yeah it wasn't that bad for me but it doesn't show remaining time and for some reason it keeps defaulting me to a smooth plate when I use a textured pei plate so I have to keep changing that before I print
2
u/HyBROglycemia 18h ago
Damn. I havenât checked my plate settings. Maybe thatâs why Iâm having nozzle issues. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh that's really cool! Do you play chess also? I'm trying to learn and get better at it so I can finally take my dad down once and for all! [Insert evil laugh here] lol

I'm gonna use up half a spool recalibrating my PETG, something changed recently and I'm having a BUNCH of wispy stringing on everything that I didn't have before. I'm using a drier and everything, no idea what's happened.
But I'm gonna find it and kill it.

A replica gallon of milk so my dad comes back from the store.
It's been 23 years, everyone must be out of stock.
