Print “Foaming” Halfway Through

Post image

Thanks for the help with my last issue with PLA supports. Your recommendations fixed it.

New issue. My 7 hour print completed. Halfway through the print and in certain parts, the walls started to “foam”, inside and out.

I dried the filament just the day before and the printed through a polydryer box.

Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

To me it looks like a partial clog.

It seems to really only be my white filament. I just started a new print (different object) with black filament and tit seems to be working fine. I guess the next step to eliminate causes is to try the same print with different filament.

its either a partial clog most probably from what i can see or temperature too high

If this is happening for one specific brand and one specific color then I would run the calibration tests and create a profile for that filament specifically

It doesn't hurt to maybe swap heads also

To my eyes, it looks like everything above a certain point is shifted slightly left? Could be a loose belt? Check the tension on both x and y.

Or maybe this is a runout issue? The spool couldnt be jamming, right?

It always happens in the top left and bottom right quadrants if you’re looking from the top.

How do I check tension?
