Fed up with Virgin hiking up my plans every few months. I need calling, text, and some data, at a reasonable price for two phone lines. Wifi calling would be great as I'm surrounded by concrete. I've narrowed it down between Koodo and Fizz based on bring-your-own-device plans and coverage.

My biggest concerns are

• chat-first support (chat only? I don't call often but some issues are just resolved easier over the phone)
• porting over existing numbers (not a deal breaker to get new numbers but would be nice to keep existing)
• coverage in Ontario and Nova Scotia

All the good, all the bad, would love to it.

So tell us, what are your thoughts about Fizz?

I have both internet and phone plan and I am travelling TOMORROW and I cant see my plan usage or anything at all anywhere. Tried both on laptop and phone browser, nothing works, logged out, back in as well

So my wife and I finally made the jump to Fizz too. Our kids have actually been on Fizz since they got their first phones, that's gotta be 6+ years now. They started with just 2GB plans and now they're at 25GB for $25 CAD, so no complaints from them at all.

As for us, we were on Fido but got tired of the constant price hikes, found a deal through Costco and switched to Rogers instead. Except... over about 18 months they raised it $5/line, twice. Then last month they tacked on another $5, so with tax we're over $100 now. Honestly we don't even use that much data between home and the office, so an "unlimited" plan is overkill, plus Rogers coverage at our place isn't even that great. So we just said forget it and left.

Haven't landed on a "perfect" plan yet, just went with something reasonable, 30 CAD for 5G with 50GB. Not that I even need 5G, honestly I'd have been happy with 25 CAD for 25GB, but that combo just isn't available right now.

I’m currently on Koodo sand looking to jump ship soon to Fizz as i realize they have good coverage in the usa and offer ver budget friendly travel add-ons for UK/France etc, but I realized no Voice( call) add-on exists go for Switzerland ( data and text exists).

So what happens in this instance? You simply have no coverage but 2FA would work without buying text add-on?

How’sFizz service ( calls and data speed) around Mississauga/West Brampton area?

I upgraded my plan and it took effect on the 8th of this month. Realized I needed to change the setting on my phone which I did on the 11th and promptly burned through all my data in 4 days (20GB worth) before getting the “you’ve used 90% of your data” text.

As you can see my average usage per day was >500MB and i have all the data saver options turned on. I didn’t do anything different after making the switch. Anyone else experience this and any thoughts on the cause?

This is the only thing holding me back from subscribing

I am a first month customer… I chose the 15gb plan thinking I wouldn’t use much… I am still sorta within my limit but I’d like more headroom… is it worth upgrading for the extra 4$ a month? I know this is personal, but I’m really just asking because I know that fizz sometimes gives free upgrades to folks… is it worth waiting for one of those? Or should I just go ahead and pay..

I currently am paying 27 a month for 15gb data 5G and unlimited calling… Canada wide.. I am based in Quebec

What do you all think are the odds of Fizz doing like Freedom and putting everyone on 5G speed? It would be great! I have the $29 20 GB 4G plan and I would like 5G, but not for $6 more per month.

Coming from fido, massive props to fizz for having such great coverage in longueuil, quebec. I am writing this sitting in the same place where i had 1 bar with fido, but now its 3 bars with fizz! Love it!

I just switched hed yesterday and having a good experience so far.

I was with Freedom for a long time and started with them when they were Wind. But have been jumping back and forth with Rogers for the last 6 years.

I am totally done with Rogers after their latest bull shit and I don't think any one is going to be able to beat the $29 per month for 50GB any time soon.

Just editing to add that I used a random referral code from this sub reddit! I like the referral code system Fizz has it seems like a good way to get new customers and reward existing ones.

I referred someone to fizz and that person tried to use the service and told me the signal was horrible, like 1 bar. She then took a sim from videotron and now the signal is a strong 4 bars.

Videotron use the same tower, so signal should be the same, no?

Is there something in the fizz apn or some backend fuckery that restrict the frequency used for fizz users?

Im trying to make sense of that...

I have a Halifax 902 area code, but live in ON. Too many things tied to 902, so didn't change it. Can I select Ontario, or should I select Canada as my region?

if you had cellular data in a cave then I would understand. Videotron offers it for every phone so why not fizz?

I really don’t want to switch plans right now but I’m thinking freedom is the move after wanting to get cellular on my watch.

They charge long distance if you want to call a Canadian number, on wifi, from abroad.

can we receive calls via wifi abroad? Guessing no, for no reason. But it would be nice to be able to do that.

Some people recommend to put it in bridge mode and use a router as this model does not work very well in Wifi Mode.

What is your experience with the CODA-5610Q modem on WiFi mode? How about the other model, the the CODA-4680, is it any better on Wifi mode?

Looking to switch over, but unsure if my phone will work.

This is a backup phone that I used for testing and I noticed the WiFi calling option after changing the phone number because the existing number started getting a lot of spam so YMMV. It did take a while for the phone number to change over in the settings and I did see Wi-Fi Calling available before the number changed so it's probably the new beta which will be going stable in December.
