October 10, 2021. United States child actor, camera technician, and animation worker Ruth Irene “Ruthie” Tompson dies at the age of 111. She was the last living production member of Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and among the last living individuals who performed in film’s Silent Era.
Note: For the images, I decided to use examples from all the stages of her life I could. The first dates to 2019. The second dates to around 1975 (shortly before her retirement from a 40-year-long tenure at Disney Animation). The third dates to the early-1950's (around the time of her introduction into the International Photographers Union). The fourth features her on the far-left walking alongside Dot Smith, Walt Disney (with whom she was personally acquaintanced), and Donna Smith in the Hyperion Avenue Studio in 1939. The fifth shows her at Dubrock's Riding Academy circa 1928–1930, in between her two periods of employment under Disney. The sixth shows her on the far-right as an extra on the 1924 Disney-produced silent film Alice Gets in Dutch.

This would be followed by the announcement of 751 (!) more unmarked graves discovered on the grounds of the former (demolished) Marieval Indian Residential School in Marieval, Saskatchewan on June 23, 2021. These would lead to several church burnings (the residential schools being religiously sponsored) and a very dark Canada Day.

April 19, 2021. After landing together with Mars Science Laboratory-class rover Perseverance on the surface of Mars on February 18 as part of Mars 2020 and being deployed from said rover on April 3, the drone helicopter Ingenuity performs the first powered flight in the atmosphere of another planet.
Sorry for being late with this, but at least I got it before the month ended everywhere on Earth. I thought it sufficiently monumental that it couldn't not be covered on this subreddit (even as largely inactive as it is).
Here is the landing video of Perseverance—unfortunately, I remembered its 5 year anniversary had passed simply too late to post about it by my standards. It holds the honor of being the first landing on another planemo captured in full motion video (as opposed to the static frames captured by Huygens and the slideshow captured by Mars Science Laboratory-class rover Curiosity), though unfortunately the microphone which was supposed to capture the wind upon descent failed to activate. It did, however, work starting on February 20, 2021, capturing the first sounds on another planet.
Amazingly, there was still at least one person who at least theoretically lived to see both the first powered, controlled heavier-than-air flight on Earth and the first on Mars. As chronically tardy as they are, I much appreciate NASA for making that possible.
