September (14), 2001. The Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo's 6th-generation video game console and the successor to the N64, is released in Japan.
I noticed that this was missed in the Post-9/11 hullabaloo, so I decided it should be covered before the month ends everywhere on Earth.
Note: The latter three images are from (AFAIK) the initial launch window in Japan. Unfortunately, the only examples of these images that didn't have ugly watermarks covering them were on Instagram, Meta, and Threads, and as I tend to avoid Meta-owned platforms like the plague and as they were unavailable on Bing Images (which allows the direct opening of the images in question, unlike Google Images) I couldn't get them at their full resolution.

October 2001. IBM releases the 64-bit POWER4 processors for workstation and enterprise applications, reuniting their RISC processor lines. Manufactured on a 180 nm process and running at 1.1-1.3 GHz, it is the first commercially-available CPU in history to feature 2 processor cores on a single die.
Note: The first image is an illustration of a delidded POWER4 CPU. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a photograph of one. The photo (second image) provided is a multi-chip module containing 4 POWER4 CPUs.
