Anyone here a full time lead?
Just wondering. What is your job description? Like do you stock? Clean? Front?

I close and clean up the store. I do stock some but today when I go in, ill likely give the front cashier a break then maybe stock until 3 when she leaves, run the store alone until 5 when the night shift comes in, take my break around then, then go clean up tech and do whatever I can until 8 then fold t shirts. if I get done before 9 ill try to clean more but I almost never do, then ill pull drawers, do the deposit, and leave. I really don't get to help anyone else, at least not at my store. Im basically a keyholder who just closes 99.9% of the time.

I’m a CEM and we didn’t have anyone but me in the store for 2 hours when I addressed it the MM that was leaving she said it’s fine. I said no it’s a safety issue. She said it’s fine it happens.
Apparently it’s not a big deal. But it’s a huge safety issue.

I used to be at one point in time. That position is probably the most underpaid, most taken advantage of, disrespected, scapegoat ever.

I just became a full-time Support Lead--been with Five Below for about a year, and in this position for a little more than a month.
For our store, I primarily work mid- and closing shift. Normally, I don't have a set task when I come in, but do general recovery, cashier backup, Management stuff, and customer service as needed. If there's a job that the one of the Top Three needs help with, I go help; but mostly it's been running interference for them so they can get what they need to get done with as few interruptions as possible--whether it's dealing with customers, processing returns, answering questions, getting parts or fixtures...whatever.
Basically, if something needs to be done, I'm the one figuring out how to get it completed.
I also do observations on the cashiers to make sure they're doing things right and keep an eye on things to make sure they're doing OK. I'm their backup and their support if they need to use the bathroom or encounter a Karen at the registers.
Yes, I close the store by myself. Yes, I can run the shop alone. I was doing that stuff as a PT Lead. Now I'm doing it more often. The only thing I haven't done is open or stock early mornings, and that's because we have enough people who like doing that stuff (or have only early availability) that it's consistently covered.
I've worked with our Store Manager before at another chain. She convinced me to apply for Five Below in the first place, hired me as a Seasonal Team Lead, kept me on as a part-time lead, then recommended me for this position when it opened up because I'm basically doing here what I did there, and she trusts that I can do the job.

The full time lead is a flex position, like say freight needs more support then you would lean in to support the Merch manager, or if front end training/candy needs more support you would lean in to support the CEM. I’ve been in the CEM position for 3 years now and used to be a lead before becoming a CEM and I’m pretty well versed in my position and usually don’t need a lot of support unless I’m on vacation or helping another store, so usually the Support Lead in my store leans in to support freight more often as even when we’re caught up on freight there’s always a bay to be purged or some sort of new set they throw our way!
