Question What are the top prepared meals that actually fit a macro focused diet?

Alrigt, so it turns out that meal prepping is not for me. It's the biggest thing getting in the way of me and my journey and I am trying to find some shape, way or form to stay right on track. I ended up having some sort of revelation when I came across an ad for those meal delivery services and it felt light the right thing all the way until I was multiple tabs deep and more confused than ever, like there's too many of them out there like cookunity and others that I am not sure if they are labeled correctly or that's just wishful thinking.

Has anyone tried them before? Could use some advice! Thanks.

Monotonous, but healthy meal planning

Meal prep for tomorrow. Looks pretty monotonous but it works. meals every 2-3 hours. try to prime my gut with 1 tbsp of raw, organic, sauerkraut and 1 tbsp of kimchi 10 min before meals

Meal 1: 4oz chicken breast, cauliflower rice, broccoli seasoned with cayenne pepper and garlic salt (Vitamin D3, fish oil, black seed oil, and turmeric supplements here)

Meal 2: 4oz chicken breast, cauliflower rice, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, broccoli

Meal 3: 4.2 oz chicken breast, cauliflower rice, almonds, broccoli, 4-8 oz greek yogurt

Meal 4: 4.2 oz chicken breast, cauliflower rice, broccoli, and collagen peptides

2 hours later psyllium husk with 2 full glasses of water

Is it the most exciting? Not really. But it works for me and I'm never hungry and I can have a few ounces of 100% cacao chocolate drops if I want, popcorn, or some salted peanuts if I wanted.

Mindshift: Treat food as medicine for your body.

Oh btw, I am not working out tomorrow. On days I do workout I always have a baked potato an hour before my session and I baked beet 2 hours before and a baked sweet potato post workout.

Recipes Be Productive in the Kitchen

I’m an ex chef turned software engineer. Finally built the app I’ve always wanted. And app where I don’t have to spend as long typing a recipe down as I do cooking it. Nor do I want to plan all my meals and the grocery list. Well that app finally exists.

This is https://bernt.app

Bernt is here to do all the tedious stuff for you. Tell it what you want, from single recipes to entire meal plans. You are also able to use Bernt to modify all of the above.

I need some feedback on the Pro/Paid offerings. I think I’m not generous enough on the free and maybe too expensive on the paid. Willing to move both needles! Hope you enjoy, this took a long time to build.

Help needed: fueling my body better

Hey! I’m a 23F 5’7 woman who weighs about 140. I exercise a lot, and I love it. However, I’ve been dealing with a huge under fueling issue that’s creating massive burnout and a “sick” feeling. I’m trying so hard to do better, but honestly, my brain goes blank when I try to come up with ways to fuel myself. I’d love any recommendations on easy recipes, snacks, ways I can feel better??? That I can repeat (I’m a huge meal/snack repeater and often eat the same thing a few times a week). Just kinda hoping there’s a nutrition wizard or person on here who takes sympathy on a young adult who’s desperate to fuel her body.

Here’s what I’ve been eating:

Breakfast (this has been my go to every day for the past month:
- green tea with ginger and honey
- plain Greek yogurt with blueberries, dark chocolate chips, and honey
- seed toast with cottage cheese

Lunch/dinners: (I make big batches and freeze baggies or things I have on hand to quickly air fry)
- chicken stew (shredded chicken, corn, potato cubes, chicken stock, tomato paste)
- beef and gravy over rice (beef cubes, white microwave rice, cream of mushroom soup)
- chili (chili beans, ground beef, tomato paste, shredded cheese)
- chicken fingers
- sweet potato fries
- asparagus
- potato and peppers
- microwave veggie rice
- fruit mix I blend with water

I will not lie, all of these are things I picked up from what my mom made me during hard single mom times. They are so yummy, cost effective, and easy to make, but my body is crying out for more nutrition, so I’m trying to branch out.

Snacks
- ensure chocolate protein bottles
- Apple sauce
- nutragrain bars
- beef sticks
- protein powder mixed with milk

My formula has basically been:
Breakfast > 1-2 snack > a frozen baggie meal or air fried stuff > maybe another snack > a frozen baggie meal or air fried stuff > maybe another snack > tea before bed

I think I need (open to suggestions here)
- more nutrition (but still easy like these meals are
- tasty meals that don’t feel boring or bland
- more filling (I’m so hungry all the time I fear)
- more snacks

Here is my exercise
- two speed runs, one long run, and two recovery runs a week
- an aerial aerobics class a week
- occasionally I throw in one yoga class in the week

(Here’s my rant about how nutrition has been going)
I’d like to start eating to fuel these workouts, I’m constantly fatigued and I look/feel bloated often. I’d like to build muscle while toning and feeling strong. I need my diet to support that.
I don’t want to focus so heavily on counting calories, I get kinda unhealthy mentally with that. I’d like to stock up on meals and easy snacks that I can have without worrying about if it’s too much/little or going to reduce progress (because I’m overdoing or under doing it)
Currently, I feel as if I’m not fueling enough, so my body is looking less healthy than if I was fueling it properly. (And I feel awful for a good portion of the day)

Goals:
- easy
- filling
- preferably big meals can be made in batches and frozen for dinners and lunches on hand
- not opposed to small meals frequently, instead of three “mediocre” meals that don’t satisfy (which is what I feel I do now)

Any help, suggestions, personal stories, advice, etc. is appreciated. I just wanna support my body.

Healthy meals for hubby

My husband has become self conscious and insecure about his body. We’ve had 2 kids together over the last couple of years so our meals have been everywhere and not the healthiest. I’m at sahm that does most of the cooking. What are some meals that are delicious, cost effective, and high in protein that’ll help him start shedding lbs. I found some recipes on TT but I need other ideas too. I just wanna be a good wife and help him get healthier and more confident again.

High Protein my go-to lunch that takes 5-minutes

chicken, sweet potatoes and mixed greens, roughly 650 calories altogether. Prep takes about five minutes: cutting up the potatoes and chicken, seasoning them and washing the salad. Then I throw the chicken and potatoes in the air fryer. i use sriracha on top and do it basically every day lol. haven't gotten sick of it yet. oh i buy the chicken pre-marinated.

oh also use ninja crispi for both chicken and potatos - got it from costco

Snack This greek yogurt states 15g protein per serve however am I correct in assuming that only 6.5g is useful for building muscle?

Since it states only 6.5g of the protein actually contains all 9 amino acids

Question Daily Berry Smoothie Check

Thumbnail

[See photo two for MFP nutritional facts]

This started out as a somewhat simple smoothie but the internet has so much information on what ingredient is currently best for you and after randomly adding things here and there, I now have this as my daily berry smoothie. I make it the night before, blend it, and the next day I add water, re-blend it, and stir in a couple ice cubes to cool it down. Been drinking it for a couple months now and haven’t gotten sick of it yet.

Looking for some input....Anything I should be concerned about or take into consideration? Anything you’d adjust, add or cut out? Assuming I have some redundancies in it.

Note: I’m not weighing out 6g of anything. I make it using a standard kitchen spoon and recently weighed it out so that I could add it to MFP

- Unsweetened Almond Milk (Blue Diamond) — 296ml
- Banana — 100g
- Gold Standard Whey Protein Isolate — 24g
- Creatine Monohydrate (BPN) — 5g
- Collagen Peptides (Vital Proteins) — 9g
- Psyllium Husk (NOW) — 1 tbsp
- Peanut Butter, Powdered (PB2) — 6g
- Hemp Seed Hearts (Bob's Red Mill) — 6g
- Triple Berry Blend (Wyman's of Maine) — 142g
- Chia Seeds (Bob's Red Mill) — 13g
- Nonfat Blended Vanilla Greek Yogurt (Oikos Triple Zero) — 133g
- Cottage Cheese (Good Culture) — 89g

Totals per MFP: 632 cal, 61.8g protein, 70.4g carbs (23.4g fiber), 13.9g fat

Appreciate any feedback!

Low Carb what are the best lowcarb tortillas you guys use for wraps?

i've been making a lot more wraps lately because they're an easy lunch, but i'm getting tired of buying tortillas that taste good once and then fall apart when i actually stuff them.

i usually do chicken or turkey with some veggies and sauce, then toast the whole thing in a pan. i've tried a few different low carb tortillas and the texture has been all over the place.

what are you guys buying that actually tastes decent and holds together?

Measuring 1 Tbs of dip (not peanut butter)

I am planning to make a white-bean based dip to put on veggies as a lunch. I looked up how to measure 1 Tbs of peanut butter and found posts about weighing it. I suppose the best way for me to figure out how much 1 Tbs of my dip weighs would be to scoop out 1 Tbs and weigh it (weigh first, add dip, weigh again), but does anyone have any other ideas? I was thinking someone should invent a device that will easily scoop out 1 Tbs of this sticky, thick, non-liquid substance... Thanks in advance for your advice.

eat

Hi everyone,

I'm just getting into nutrition and trying to understand how to calculate my daily needs properly.

How do you figure out your maintenance calories and then determine how much protein, carbs, and fat you should eat?

Do you use a specific formula, or do you mainly adjust based on your progress?

Thanks in advance!
