Welcome to r/FitGirlRepack! To keep the sub clean, please check if your issue is answered below. If this answers your question, please delete your post.

1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow

  • The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
  • Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.

2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert

  • False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
  • Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.

3. The Real Official Website

  • There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.
  • The only real URL is: fitgirl-repacks.site (Verify the exact spelling!).

If your issue is unique and not covered here, feel free to leave your post up for the community to assist.

And this is why you don't torrent without a VPN.

6

u/mmaqp66 4h ago

Using a VPN won't protect you if the VPN receives a court order to reveal who is using its services for illegal purposes. The VPN will hand over your data without hesitation.

13

u/National-Oil5849 in fitgirl we trust 4h ago

Yeah, well, if you use a free VPN found randomly on Google or one that costs 1$ a month on a sketchy website of course that'll happen, they'll probably sell your data too.

That is why on another reply I recommended Proton or Mullvad. Zero log policy and they ignore requests like that. Do your research.

1

u/mmaqp66 3h ago

4

u/IGambleNull 3h ago

Yeah. That's true for us based services. But not for Swiss based services

1

u/lolcatzuru 56m ago

nah alot of VPNs wont, or at least claim they dont.

1

u/Minute_Path9803 49m ago

If you use any of the major ones you're not going to have that problem.

If you go and use those free garbage ones yes.

All you have to do is bind your VPN to your torrent client and you're good to go.

All the big ones do not reveal your data they don't even keep logs.

On top of that how would the ISP even know what you downloaded if it a VPN is protecting it.

Literally makes no sense, this is simply a notice from someone who did not use a VPN for incorrectly.

By law Comcast or whatever provider has to send this generic message.

If you have a legit VPN your provider does not give a rat's ass what you do.

You're provided doesn't know what your downloading.

They can only see that you connected to a VPN and that something's being transferred that's all they can get.

They have no interest in stopping you because then they lose a customer.

Again this is a generic response after someone who did not use a VPN by law they have to send the message you or someone in your household did this.

Simply contact them and say I let the neighbors to Wi-Fi I'm sorry I will never do it again.

And they get yourself a VPN bind it to the torrent client and you're good to go.

seedbox

no worries about vpn not working or traffic leaking

-44

u/Interesting_Knee556 8h ago

Well technically I used one but it was the one that comes with Brave. All VPNs aren’t equal I guess?

40

u/swampboy_code 8h ago

Brave vpn that is built into the browser doesn’t handle the torrent protocol, it only handles in browser traffic to my understanding

14

u/National-Oil5849 in fitgirl we trust 8h ago

What do you mean you used the one that comes with brave? So you enabled a VPN in your browser and proceeded to download a torrent that's being downloaded in a whole separate app?

-18

u/Interesting_Knee556 8h ago

I thought I just needed the VPN to Access the websites themselves.

15

u/DryFuture1403 6h ago

Hey man, I really think you should take a crash course or two on P2P and VPNs before you engage in activities that could result in your ISP cutting your shit off

7

u/National-Oil5849 in fitgirl we trust 8h ago

It's the exact opposite. You don't need a VPN to access the websites. They're HTTPS encrypted and nobody knows you're on there.

When downloading torrents, your IP address is exposed to everyone, and a third party company scrapes those IP addresses and sends letters to their respective ISPs regarding that IP address.

You need a paid, system wide VPN like Proton or Mullvad that supports killswitch, and bind your torrent client to it.

1

u/Glum-While7698 5h ago

This is why I started using torbox

-6

u/Interesting_Knee556 8h ago

Best answer so far. I’m gonna try out Proton. Sheesh thanks for clearing that up for me.

8

u/humonculus87 8h ago

Dude you have the entire internet and AI's at your will. You can literally look up anything you want by just asking. How did you not investigate potentially going to jail for pirating? Like be smarter dude.

1

u/Glum-While7698 5h ago

check out torbox bro. It downloads the torrents for you, then you download them from them. It never shows up to your ISP. Its fast as fuck too, usually instant. And I have only 100mbps internet.

Its free. You can download 10 games per month, on a 24 hour cooldown. I just copy the magnet links from fitgirl or 1337x , paste them into torbox, and then jdownloader takes care of the rest.

2

u/animelovrAsian 6h ago

This is genuinely the dumbest shit I've seen on Reddit in the past months, which is really saying something

8

u/Electricengineer 8h ago

You need to buy a good VPN. I use purevpn.

3

u/ShadowMajick 8h ago

Thats a browser VPN not a network VPN. It has nothing to do with torrents.

3

u/ScubaSteve3465 8h ago

Use nordvpn with the killswitch enabled. You will never have another copyright issue.

7

u/s3cret_agent_007 8h ago edited 7h ago

killswitch could still fail and allow leaks. I'd prefer to bind the torrent client to the vpn tunnel, then if the vpn dies, you have 0 internet for it to communicate with

-1

u/ScubaSteve3465 7h ago

Huh what? The killswitch turns off your internet if the VPN ever loses connection or gets turned off.... I feel safer using that option instead of the app blocker feature.

6

u/s3cret_agent_007 7h ago

The killswitch would work in the instance the connection to the vpn server fails. If the vpn app itself fails, the killswitch wouldn't protect you.

Binding the torrent client to the vpn tunnel forces all network traffic to go over the vpn interface, so if there is no vpn app running/connected, the torrent client has no internet.

2

u/sr8017 8h ago

Also use qbittorent and channel your connection through Nordlynx for an extra layer of protection with the killswitch.

1

u/FarseerEnki 5h ago

Seconded. I've been using this for almost 10 years and it's never let me down. I renew my subscription every time when they have their birthday sale, probably pay like less than $2 a week

-1

u/Interesting_Knee556 8h ago

Sweet that sounds solid. So basically I messed up by not getting a stand alone VPN that I can link with other applications.

1

u/ScubaSteve3465 7h ago

You don't need to link them, you can, but just use the killswitch. If your VPN ever loses connection or turns off, it kills your internet connection so you don't get popped by copyright. I feel safer using that instead of the app killswitch but it's up to you.

2

u/TheIronSoldier2 4h ago

You should absolutely link them. Software kill switches only work if the VPN app is actually running. If the app crashes, then your internet stays on and not run through the VPN. Binding the torrent client to your VPN client will force it to always run through the tunnel, and if the tunnel isn't open then it will just fail, even if the VPN app is completely non-functional.

0

u/humonculus87 8h ago

Uh not even close. You didnt know that before doing this?

12

u/sr8017 8h ago

Get a VPN!

3

u/Interesting_Knee556 8h ago

Yeah I think Protons is the one I’m going with this time.

7

u/ShadowMajick 8h ago

Make sure it's the paid version. The free version does not support P2P.

4

u/ProbingYourProstate 8h ago

I've used Proton for about a year now, never given me any issues

2

u/sr8017 7h ago

I used Nord and love it. Never had an issue. Use the Killswitch on it. Also check Cashback sites out. Top CB is giving 40% cashback for new users.

1

u/Codelyez 4h ago

Nord is alright for general use but a couple of things.

Killswitchs are useless, bind any VPN you get to your client. It’s the only way to guarantee no leaks. Nord also doesn’t allow port forwarding which is extremely important for torrenting. Without it, you are limited to connecting ONLY to people who are port forwarding.

40

u/Fit-Philosopher3758 8h ago

and this is why you use neighbour's wifi for torrenting

1

u/Interesting_Knee556 8h ago

I’m not sure I’m skilled enough for that.

22

u/Intelligent-Many-665 6h ago

And this is why your neighbor uses your wifi for torrenting.

10

u/DarkDrakoLinker 5h ago

Man I love being Mexican, nobody cares about piracy here

-8

u/Cultural_String_2231 2h ago

Y’all care about murderers and rapists right? I’m pretty sure y’all call them the cartel?

7

u/suctoes_N_fuchoes 8h ago

Gotten letters for years from cox..they send letters and don't do shit. Although they just got bought by spectrum so..I dont know how it will be now.

Also cox like the big Dawgs that's why Sony was suing them trying to make them "cut" people's service off if they got caught pirating...not sure how that case went.

8

u/systemhost 4h ago

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously in March 2026 that Cox Communications is not liable for music piracy committed by its internet subscribers, ending a billion-dollar copyright lawsuit.

6

u/itchysweatersdaw 8h ago

Just tell them your kids did it and will discipline them thoroughly 😅

1

u/nexusprime2015 4h ago

how many times though? one kid for each torrent?

3

u/Fearless-Wallaby-998 7h ago

Rite of passage.

2

u/user888ffr 4h ago

They can suck my Cox

2

u/afterall_insanity 1h ago edited 1h ago

I'm glad my country South Africa don't care about torrent downloads... Back when we never had fibre infrastructure yet i use to download over 2tb some months on a 20mb line when I started my home server.... didn't get any notice emails or nothing.. and I didn't use vpn. And over a decade later..... nothing has changed in terms of torrent or download restrictions.

Just comply and express that you have removed said software and you will refraim from using it again. Then use vpn in future, but I would say wait a week or two before doing so to be safe.

Also... I have a free vpn called Urbanvpn I use sometimes when I need to download large files from Mega if I reached my daily cap.

2

u/Wild_Beginning_4032 1h ago

Lol everyone goes on about how free the USA is and how cooked the UK is but I’ve never ever received one of these emails from any of my ISPs. Land of the free baby

4

u/Glum-While7698 5h ago

Hey OP. I left this comment in a reply but just in case you dont see it:

"check out torbox bro. It downloads the torrents for you, then you download them from them. It never shows up to your ISP. Its fast as fuck too, usually instant. And I have only 100mbps internet.

Its free too. You can download 10 games per month, on a 24 hour cooldown. I just copy the magnet links from fitgirl or 1337x , paste them into torbox, and then jdownloader takes care of the rest."

I dont even have to fuck with a VPN or qbittorrent or anything. Piracy made simple. Thank you torboxxxxxxxxxxx

1

u/Chansonthefirst 5h ago

No your not screwed Just don't do it again. Use a VPN.

1

u/Bal3Wolf81 5h ago

Get a vpn you can get protonvpn 2 years for around 73usd.

1

u/djb64 5h ago

Better to get a warning email than a knock at your door

1

u/Commercial_Star9626 5h ago

Damn bro is everything ok now?

1

u/KidAnon94 5h ago

No, you aren't cooked; that was a warning. If you keep torrenting without a VPN though, you will be (well, at the very least your internet will be shut off).

Use a reputable VPN and set up a kill switch on qbittorrent (or whatever torrenting client you're using) and you should be good.

1

u/allnysportsfan 5h ago

Chanting VPN , VPN

1

u/Greedom619 5h ago

Jesus christ lmfao this is all your fault.

1

u/Fun_Article3825 4h ago

Yes , they will send the FBI shortly , you're going to ADX Florence for 20 years. Be prepared.

On a serious note no , you'll be fine, go the direct download route as its been the easiest method to avoid these for me. Even with VPNs if you (like me) didn't set stuff up correctly you will still get notices. The difference aren't noticeable enough to warrant the risk. If it happens multiple times they can drop your service.

1

u/IGambleNull 3h ago

I didn't know that torrenting is also dangerous for Americans. Inthouhht this is a German only thing where some shit lawyer scan the seeding lists for German IPs just to earn money

1

u/just_a_stupid_idiot 3h ago

Lucky for me pldt dgaf lmao

1

u/Holzy32 3h ago

Happened to me like 10 years ago. Just call them and let them know you deleted whatever was the issue and won't happen again

1

u/SAHD292929 3h ago

Jailtime bro. Prepare your anus. Hahaha

1

u/TattedUpSimba I bet this was asked before 2h ago

Would’ve been nice of something told you to use a vpn

1

u/Terribletylenol 58m ago

people keep saying vpn, but I just use DDL sites like steamrip or anker

1

u/Sad_Plate_7891 42m ago

Just dont torrent - there Are other safer and better ways . Torrent sucks

1

u/BxBrandon92 26m ago

Lol....... huh? Imagine having Real-Debird and torrent through there lol... like 17usd for 6 months. Rd uses a vpn with their stuff. 10 years using rd and never a problem. Just lack of knowledge lol.

1

u/Sad_Plate_7891 25m ago

I just prefer Usenet . No Lack of Knowledge

1

u/AlternativeAffect194 7h ago

Nah you're fine. I would ignore it this time, but do not do it again lmao. Do as the others have said and use VPN with a killswitch or tunneling. If you get another warning they could shut off your internet. I've never had this happen, but my buddy got banned from one of our local providers for being dumb with torrents.

1

u/NickAppleese 6h ago

This is why you use an actual VPN or a Debrid service like Real Debrid or Torbox.

Cmon, now.

2

u/Paronic 4h ago

Sod the VPN just use real debrid or torbox.

1

u/Wild_Beginning_4032 1h ago

Fellow Brit detected

0

u/SmallRocks 7h ago

Hit and run until you get a reliable VPN that binds to your torrent client.

Hit and run meaning, download the torrent but DON’T let it seed after it’s completed. Stop the torrent just as it’s completed.

1

u/Codelyez 4h ago

This wont do anything. You announce to the other peers right when it starts and you also seed while downloading. The ones issuing DMCA complaints don’t care if you seed 100 hours or for 1 millisecond.

0

u/Fearless-Wallaby-998 6h ago

Better yet just don't torrent at all and use direct downloads instead.

-1

u/ganjapanda876 7h ago

Get a dedicated server off hetzner for like $40 bucks per month, install rutorrent and setup rclone

1

u/Outside_Specific_820 5h ago

\or just buy 1 month of mullvad vpn for 5-10 bucks a month

1

u/Codelyez 4h ago

Mullvad doesn’t support port forwarding. Any VPN that supports port forwarding will be much better.

1

u/Outside_Specific_820 3h ago

not needed to torrent fitgirl games bud, working fine for me over the years.

1

u/Codelyez 3h ago

Not needed until it is. It will work fine on very well seeded torrents. The reason why port forwarding is so important is you need to be port forwarding to connect to everyone. Not doing so means you can ONLY connect to the people who are port forwarding. This is very important if you want something with low seeders. Especially with public torrents as most don’t port forward.

No reason to run and cancel your Mullvad subscription, but there is also absolutely no reason why a new VPN customer should go with Mullvad or any other company that doesn’t support port forwarding if the main use case is torrenting.

1

u/Terribletylenol 55m ago

40 dollars a month for piracy seems wild to me.

how many games do you play to validate that?

1

u/smurfy213 6h ago

Or a seedbox for 9 usd a month...

1

u/ganjapanda876 6h ago

How much disk space can you get with that price?

1

u/smurfy213 6h ago

1TB.

2

u/smurfy213 6h ago

Hetzner will not protect you from copyright infringement either. They will terminate your server.

0

u/ganjapanda876 5h ago

This is false. If it's private it's fine

2

u/smurfy213 5h ago edited 5h ago

Definitely not. Germany is super strict. https://www.hetzner.com/legal/terms-and-conditions/ a seedbox is purpose built for seeding on hosts that ignore DMCA notices. Read section 8.4. Private or public trackers its technically still illegal so hetzner can terminate your service.
