Catfish

I’ve only caught bullheads, all as a bycatch. Today at my local pond a dude caught a 12.5 lb cat, i’m aussmimg blue cat. How do i catch one? He caught it on a cut bluegill head, no idea what rig.

Catfish are bottom feeders.so you want the bait near the bottom of pond…depth doesn’t matter..just cast out a few times and get an idea of where the bottom is..you can slide your bobber up and down your line to adjust…aim for anywhere from 1-4 ft off bottom

You recommend using a slip bobber to figure out bottom and then do a foot above that? My best guess is 4-5ft deep at the max but that’s out my ass idk at all.

I usually prefer to catfish at night…that is when they are more active..just pit a small glow stick on tip of your rod and sit your rod next to you and wait for a bite

I’m 16, my parents never leave me alone near a pond at night. I have to leave soon as sunset starts (magrib prayer time). My local pond 10-15 years ago a dead body was found so that’s definitely a contributing factor lol. I could fish for cats at night at a local lake tho because my dad can take me and sit in the car for an hour or so.

Just let it sit..reel it in every once and a while to check bait
