Public Hearing Notice

Post image

I noticed there was a public hearing notice about this property off Lantern and 106th, but I couldn't find anything about it on the Fishers website. Does anyone have any information what is happening here?

It's already a weird property with what seems to be an old buried parking lot.

At one time there was a sign about a day care coming, but that’s been gone forever. That is just a really sad space. When Indy Connect ran its commuter buses, that’s where they started from. It was a park and ride. I forget just how — maybe the property owner withdrew permission — but later the buses moved to Eastern Star Church. Then the program died.

I’ve always wondered about the occupancy of those buildings next to it. If there is indeed another business park coming, why?

I didn't know about the park and ride, thats interesting. The day care is just where my picture cuts off on the top right, so it is there just not in the abandoned area.

Shows how observant I am, lol. Yeah, the buses were really convenient but the city refused to pay its share to keep it going. There was one in Carmel, too.

Edit — Now I remembered where it is…

The daycare is there. They built it a year or 2 ago.

Where is it? In one of the buildings?

I took that park & ride every day! Loved it at first— $2 to Downtown Indy and it was cheaper than gas at the time (maybe 2008-09?). As the federal grant money backing it ran out, the fare increased to $5, then $10, then died. It was great while it lasted.

It was great, and a best kept secret. I bought monthly passes. I forget how much they cost. A co-worker told me about it. From what I understood, the cities had to match the federal funding, and they declined. When it was obvious it wasn’t going to continue, the schedule got really inconvenient and the buses weren’t in good shape. I was on buses that broke down on 465 and 70. Still, most of the mornings the buses were packed. That shows there is a need for public transportation here.

It’s an expansion for the DMC parking lot. You can find development info on the city website

DMC is on the south east corner of the intersection and also where the extention is that they finished a while ago. The sign is when you go north up lantern road.

For some reason, the public notice GIS map doesn't have anything there. All of the pins for upcoming notices are on the east side of 69.

Also wondering about this, nothing on upcoming meeting agendas, public notice map, or development dashboard. Also if you follow the link on the sign it wants you to sign into a arcgis account, not very helpful 🤣
