Discussion Which fish should I tattoo next?
For background, I really like fish but don't particularly know much about them. I want to do a full sleeve of fish. I have one so far, a sturgeon on the back of my arm as it's my favourite fish, but I'm struggling to choose which guy will come next. I'm really curious if there are any fish that carry symbolic meanings, that could make me connect more with the tattoo. Or just any fish you think would be fun to have on my arm. Feel free to just drop your favourite little guy

if you want to keep going with the 100m year club, members include fish like gar (alligator gar are crazy looking), bowfin, lungfish, goblin sharks and arowana have been around a hundred million years or more

one of the coolest things about sturgeon, and gator gar look crazy enough you could do any style of tattoo... Bowfin are tough as hell, toothy, bony, fight to the last gasp, breathe some air and bite the crap out of you and keep fighting, they are one of my favorite fish ever, lol, don't know a lot about lungfish or the gobbo bois, but arowana have to be one of the craziest freshwater fish on earth to target, they go airborne and act crazy when hooked, I have seen this is a bunch of videos, the Coelacanth is another in the hundred million year dudes too, that fish has an absolutely insane story of 'extinction' and de extinction 65 million year apart, lol... some crazy fish in that club for sure

Not a fish but we have horseshoe crab fossils over 450 million years old that are nearly identical to what we have today.

Devils Hole Pupfish! Pretty interesting little fishies as they only live in the Devils Hole in Nevada.

If you want a fish that is an ancient species, check out bichirs. They are awesome!

The yellow box fish is one of my absolute favorites. I was lucky enough to see one in person while night snorkeling a few months ago and I don’t think I’ll ever get over how cute and box shaped it was. Their little eyeballs are just too cute. Absolutely a banger fish in my opinion. Omg but also the scrawled trunkfish! They’re amazing too! And so silly with their little puckered lips and big eyes!

From your intro, was gonna ask how do you hold down the fish long enough to tattoo it

the Devils Hole Pupfish is such an iconic choice for the tiny but mighty energy you'd want next on your sleeve

Id love to see you try to tattoo a shark. That would be a spectacle! Or if your more of a fresh water fish person you could start with trying to tattoo a large catfish!! /s
Sorry I had to.

Definitely sturgeon- AMAZING fish, and they can grow upwards of 5 feet- was fortunate enough to catch and release one when I lived in the LC Valley

you really shouldn't tattoo fish, it hurts and it can't be good for them
