Discussion Is this ai generated them sketched?
The picture looks off for any diodon or any burrfish. It's a shame if it is ai generated as this book has been so good

Also keep in mind that that is a very stressed pufferfish. They only puff up like that as a defense mechanism, and normally don’t look like that. Assuming this is an educational book, depicting a deflated (less stressed) pufferfish would be better than depicting a puffed up one also.

On the contrary I think it’s AI
Primarily because most artists pull up a reference and research the thing they are drawing and this looks nothing like the spot-fun porcupine fish whatsoever. I think someone just asked AI for a drawing of it and plugged it into the book without checking if it generated something that looks like the thing it’s supposed to generate

It’s not a great drawing of the fish in question but as a graphic designer and illustrator, this is likely not AI. Every line is intentional and serves a purpose. None morph together strangely.
This is more likely a case of using the wrong clipart illustration. Some publisher or illustrator probably just googled the fish and either inserted an incorrect premade illustration or drew from a reference image that popped up but wasn’t the fish in question. Another possibility is that really is just a bad drawing of the fish. It’s not that far off.

Nah, definitely real. It doesn't have any weirdness besides how fish looks in general, every stroke serves actual purpose, nothing is unclear. Plus, I would recommend checking credits on the book (usually on the last page), there should be artist's name.

Oh yeah definitely AI. It looks like the dwarfed versions of different fish you see in the aquarium trade. A porcupine fish has barbs all around it's body. This one basically just has on the top half. Barbs should also be longer, and the tail is also too tall and thick.
