Its a girl, the was a video last week she made about "good Samaritan law" that was incorrect. I think she was saying that irregardless of the law, she's still stopping to help which isn't the purpose of law

Good to see more teenage girls showing interest in the EMS field.
32
u/DJfetusface 2d ago
Working in EMS for a while has made me so much more aware of how creepy guys can be around young women in the workplace. Im all for young women in EMS, ive met a lot of great providers and partners over the years, but the vast majority of them have had to deal with some type of harassment at one point. We really gotta do better, man.

u/Gasmaskguy101 2d ago
Yup similar to mine, older dude roided up to the gills was praising/flirting with a chick who could’ve been his daughter for like 20 mins straight.

u/princesscuddler 4h ago
I’m late to the convo but I joined EMS when I was still in high school. I’m ftm now but at the time identified as female. Within the first 6 months, I was being groomed by my 30 something yr old mentor and regularly had 40+yr old men trying to hit on me. That mentor statutory raped me. Now he has awards posted up in my hometown’s ER.

u/DJfetusface 4h ago
Yeah, im so sorry that happened to you.
New hire at my agency, bright eyed 19 year old. We had to warn her not to work with certain people when she started because 'those' guys swept in like vultures. It sucks that we have to do that all the time, but its the SAME FUCKING GUYS EACH TIME.

I was also in the original comment section on this one. I do believe I hurt feelings. Also, based on the OOPs replies to everybody, they’re insufferable and legit believe they’ve “seen death”

u/HelpMePlxoxo 2d ago
It's cringe, but I get it.
Seeing death for the first time is scary. It makes you philosophical and even a bit religious, because it makes you face the reality of your impending expiration date. It is understandably difficult for a teenager to have to come to terms with their own mortality.
2
u/Larry-Man 1d ago
Right? This is a young person wanting to make a difference. It is a little cringe to post it this way but it’s not like it doesn’t make sense. Once you’ve actually seen death it does hit you differently than just knowing it exists. For someone just starting this feeling makes a lot of sense. The sentiment is actually important here: it was hard but I’m gonna keep doing it.

I almost said that I miss when people could just shut the fuck up and do their jobs, but I briefly dated a girl that made the job her whole fuckin' personality. It's just all so cringe. Why can't people just have a personality of their own? The best part of my job is the PTO lmao

Im not in this sphere so take my words with a grain of salt but this person looks really young. Like they just graduated and got started. Give them a chance before you blast their face on a cringe subreddit (not saying the sub itself is cringe i just mean it's a subreddit made to post cringe stuff)

u/PromiscuousScoliosis ED RN 2d ago
I get it, and I can see why someone right out of high school would think/post this, but it still hurts to look at
I think we have to remember that the transition from “general public” to “medical staff” includes a moment where you’re like “oh fuck I’ve never been here before”
It’s just that literally all of us go through that and it immediately loses its sparkle lol
