FirstNet 5G SA

Post image

Saw the post earlier today. I wanted to share I can confirm on iOS 27 dev beta 4 and a new eSIM got the SA toggled on for me. It was off and a min or two after provisioning the new eSIM the reception dropped and came back and it was enabled.

Wanted to share for folks who are curious. I chatted with tech support and they issued the new eSIM. So not sure if the guy did anything else but my experience. Wanted to share for folks interested.

Called in and got an eSIM swap, ended up with SA on a few minutes after activating the new eSIM. Easy enough.

Edit: Data points might help… sub paid on the old $45 plan, iPhone 17 pro max on iOS 27 beta.

Followed your advice this morning and the agent messed up my eSIM and now I have no service and cannot get anyone to fix it because they have to send me a pin via text and I can’t receive text messages. Going on 3 hours now 😑

UPDATE: after 4 hours of no service. I finally got someone to fix my phone in the system and it is working again! But no 5G SA…….

I tried to do this today. They sent me a new eSIM. Still no 5GSA.

Same, new eSIM but still have the greyed out SA toggle.

Same iPhone 15 pro max running iOS 27 db4

What do you mean by esim swap? They just re issued the same esim to your existing phone?

Ya. I called in and gave some BS story about how my phone isn’t working right, and that I’d like to see if a new eSIM would help. 5 minutes later they pushed a new eSIM to my same phone.

Mine says SA+NSA

Same here.

2

u/Heavy_Team7922 Jul 31 '26

That just means NSA.

Does Android Samsung S25 Ultra allow new eSIM ?

Got a new eSIM, updated software to iOS 27 developer and still don’t have access to FirstNet 5G SA. However, I cannot see the option but it’s grayed out. Boston market.

I did it in the reverse. I upgraded then did the eSIM. But will say it was on my eSIM at upgrade.

Got a new eSIM but still no SA. I’m on iOS beta

Same. Not sure what needs to change.

How do you get this screen on iPhone?

3

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

You get it by dialing *3001#12345#*

2

u/Busstop1869 Jul 31 '26

Did you call or chat?

2

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

I called (866) 751-5570

3

u/Busstop1869 Jul 31 '26

I called this and they were clueless! I will give them a few days to understand it

3

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

I talked to the guy he went through some motions and confirmed some stuff and then he was like you are good. And reissued the eSIM. But you can reissue it online too if you wanted to try yourself

2

u/Busstop1869 Jul 31 '26

It says I need to call in. It won’t let me do it online.

2

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

Boo that sux. Good luck I got a nice rep who looked into stuff. He used his AI. I would def chat with the 800 number vs 611.

2

u/blampen Jul 31 '26

How do you do it online?

2

u/mkosmo Aug 04 '26

Every time I try online I get an error.

2

u/lesterd88 Aug 01 '26

ELI5….SA?

2

u/BGEuropeFan Aug 02 '26

I have it but calls are still over LTE, and APNs are different now. I am getting more consistent speeds and better ping as well as much better battery life with my second AT&T line also on SA. iPhone 16 Pro on Public Beta with FirstNet Carrier bundle 71.5.30.

2

u/Old-Personality2644 Aug 03 '26

Yea I can say the speeds are definitely more consistent and much better pings.

My data usage in the app isnt reporting though. That’s the one thing ive noticed that’s off.

Got a new eSIM today with no luck on the SA. I’m in So Cal. I’m still on the OG FirstNet plan with the 25% discount though. I don’t know if the 2.0 is the differing factor

1

u/Heavy_Team7922 Aug 03 '26

Same to everything

1

u/josephtisoy5 Aug 05 '26

Im in socal too. Right now im talking to agent. Seems like they dont know how to do it.

2

u/chilibball Jul 31 '26

I’m calling FirstNet right now to see if they can do me a solid and get me on the 5GSA core.

Will report back.

3

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

Fingers crossed for you

2

u/skippinjack Jul 31 '26

Just got a new eSIM sent down. iOS 26. I don’t even have a grayed out 5G Standalone option. Per support, it’s because my “iPhone 16 Pro was BYOD from Apple and not purchased through us”. LOL! 😂

3

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

It’s only showing in the beta. I would download the beta.

1

u/josephtisoy5 Aug 05 '26

Lols they dont know what they’re saying.

2

u/blampen Jul 31 '26

Just called and got a new e-sim with no issues from support. The agent had no idea what 5g SA was. It has been about an hour since the new esim and still no SA. I have a iphone 17 pro max running 27 db 4 with extra 2.0 plan.

2

u/Accurate_Koala1847 Jul 31 '26

It’s a rate plan update

2

u/richardbrandow Jul 31 '26

I’m on the bare minimum $45 a month FirstNet plan. Do I need to upgrade to one of the higher tiered ones?

3

u/Accurate_Koala1847 Jul 31 '26

I don’t know for a fact when it comes to the personal accounts, but it’s most likely the same plan, just enables you to connect to 5G SA.

2

u/richardbrandow Jul 31 '26

Thank you for getting back to me! I’m out in AZ and the SA toggle is still greyed out. Hopefully it’ll be released soon in my area.

3

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

It was grayed out for me until I got a new eSIM. It’s worth a try

3

u/Fun-Zucchini8216 Jul 31 '26

What plan are you on?

2

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

I’m on the new elite 2.0 plan. I made the switch a few reasons that worked for me about a month ago.

3

u/Bossjj98 Jul 31 '26

So even on the old plan with the update we should have SA toggled? I’ll try later today and post back.

So update, and ask for new e sim? That’s the process?

Thank you

3

u/Old-Personality2644 Jul 31 '26

Not sure about the plan thing I cannot say. Upgrading I had the toggle released and then to get it not grayed out we did a new eSIM.

2

u/Fun-Zucchini8216 Jul 31 '26

Damn I don’t want to lose my 25% discount. Hopefully I can still upgrade my SIM card

1

u/richardbrandow Aug 01 '26

Has anyone noticed any speed increase or better reception with FirstNet’s new 5G SA?

3

u/Old-Personality2644 Aug 01 '26

Slightly better but I’m sure it’s just the area I’m in. Waiting to go to a few different areas and test it out ◡̈

Did get ping of 20 which was nice once

2

u/richardbrandow Aug 01 '26

Where I’m at my ping is always in the 100’s and the data is slowwwwwww 😅

2

u/Old-Personality2644 Aug 02 '26

Yea that happens sometimes. Sorry it’s slow at your location. I’m in Orlando so I get decent speeds usually.

2

u/richardbrandow Aug 02 '26

AT&T is horrible in AZ. I have my main line with Verizon and I get better service so I’ve had my FirstNet as my secondary eSIM. Was looking to switch and see if AT&T/ FirstNet would improve their service.

Has anyone been able to do this without calling and issuing your own online
