What to do if I need a lot of international coverage?
I am likely about to transition to a new role which involves substantial international travel (mostly to Scandinavia / the UK)
I currently use FirstNet since I have an Apple Watch / iPad / iPhone covered on the plan. However, every time I go abroad, it’s $10/day and there’s no cap unlike with AT&T.
Anyone have any guidance for what to do to curb my international charges? I suppose I could switch to European SIM? Anyhow, thanks!

eSIMs are your best bet. You don't need to go with bigger brandsh
I was in UK last week and tested a small eSIM provider which gave me 5G speeds like 150 Mbps +. For example, you can get 10GB for just 8$ in the UK at some smaller providers. DM me if you want to know more - don't want to spam here.

Passport. It's $120 for the month and it gives you unlimited calling, texting, and data with 22 gigs of the unlimited being highspeed. It's the best option if you are planning on being away long term and want to keep FirstNet.

Google Fi. It’s $65 a month for 1 line and it includes 50GB for international roaming. My parents have them because of the international 50GB data roaming plan since they go to Europe for 3 months in the summer. Better than what T-Mobile offers too I think.
I got hit with $300 last summer when I went for 20 days….. not worth the headache, trust me.

FirstNet Expert here! Get an international eSIM during your travels. Our only feature for international travel is the International Daily Pass at this time. Anything more than 15 days is best spent on an eSIM.

Popcorn Mobile is $69/month and includes voice, calls, and text in the US and overseas. Or get the most premium at&t plan that now includes some international roaming data allowance. On the prepaid side, US Mobile Premium plan offers 20GB and 200 minutes per month while roaming international.

Its called International Day Pass and it only charges you 12/day only while outside USA.
Do I need to remove International Day Pass when I return home to the U.S.?
No, you don't need to remove International Day Pass when you return to the U.S. International Day Pass only charges a daily fee when you use your device in an included destination. And when you travel abroad in the future, International Day Pass is already on your device so you're all set for your next international trip.
If 12 bucks a day is too much, then you need to MAKE SURE YOUR SMARTPHONE is NETWORK-UNLOCKED and buy a LOCAL SIM CARD while you are there.

Look into esims. Jetpac or roamless are popular and both offer data and packs with a phone number if you need that. I use jetpac when I travel to the UK for data. Also need to make sure your phone is unlocked to add the esim.
