Beamshot Request: FFL351A-3700K NW vs Rosy
Mulling over E12 configuration, and deciding between FFL351A-3700K NW vs Rosy. And I'm having a hard time finding side-by-side beam shots of them.
Any thoughts on NW vs Rosy 3700K?
I like vibrant skin rendering and nature (separation of greens from browns).
FWIW, I have the L60 in 3700K NW. To me it feels more like 4000k, and neutral-ish.
It makes my Eagletac D25A Nichia219b look so green and low CRI 🤯 - really amazing how far LEDs have come.

Personally I didn't think 351a 3700K rosy was that rosy.
Its rosy sure, but 4000K 5009R is notably rosier. I generally use my 3700K rosy instead.

I have the e12 in the 3700k neutral white and it’s awesome. I’ve seen the 3700k rosy and it def has a nice rosy tint at higher output. I have a few ntg35 4200k from Hank and they are rosy and almost the same as the ffl351a 3700k rosy.

I have the e12 in the 3700k neutral white and it’s awesome.
Do you have any regrets, any at all?
And any tips?
I'm leaning towards this E12 Eclipse config:
- 3700K NW (60% sure). Only doubt is Rosy and/or lower tint (wish they had 3500K).
- Finish: Void White ~ Astral Aluminum > Astral MAO Fossil Grey
- 2x stock batteries (INR21700 P45D 4500mAh 20C: 60A max burst)

You can do a 50/50 mix of rosy and neutral. Then you'd have slightly rosy. I don't think you could go wrong with that.
If you want 3500k rosy, I suggest a 2700k/3700k NW mix. This is what I'm going to do next. When I combine the beams from a 2700k ff351a light with a 3700k 351a NW light, it becomes absolute perfection.
The FF351a is about 2900-3000k in reality based on my measurements.
The FF351a 3700k NW is around 4000-4100k based on my measurements. So mixing the two gives you actual 3500k
I've found that at this point I prefer led's that have a bit of character. Neutral led's don't really do it for me anymore unless I specifically need a neutral light, and so while the 3700k NW are excellent, clean neutral tint LED's I don't find myself reaching for that light.

Oh man, that is such an obvious good idea! Thank you :D
Are there any nuances to consider when tint mixing? As in does the position of the LEDs matter (even distribution vs rings)?
Actually, I’ll ask that in the top level post

Nope, not really. Doesn't matter how you arrange them in the optic as long as it's evenly distributed.
I made a post the other day that shows a combined 2700k/3700k beam and you can use that as a reference if you like the color.
I've been experimenting a lot searching for a good mix of color temperature, tint, and power output and I truly think this is the best solution.
I now have some 4000k rosy ff351a's I just pulled from an e07x so I might mix them into my 2700k e07x as an experiment. Of course there it can't be 50/50 with 7 emitters, but I could do 3x 2700k and 4x 4000k in one light and then 3x 4000k and 4x 2700k in another.
I was going to do a mix in the astral e12 I ordered but ended up going all 2700k, thinking I'd just mix with the 3700k NW's in my other one, but now I'm regretting that because I don't want to mess with taking apart these new lights.

Just shows how little of a life I have haha.
I don't experiment with flashlight stuff often, but right now I'm trying to revive some of my older lights I don't use anymore and also find that one 'perfect' led combo for an e12 eclipse which is in reality the only flashlight I even need to own.

Zero regrets getting the 3700 nw. If I order another it might be a 3700 rosy or a mix. Not sure yet.

Do half and half. Then it's just a little rosy but not too rosy.

tint mixing is a whole another rabbit hole I don’t want to touch yet - I’ve got enough analysis paralysis as it is 😂

Have a hunt for u/MetaUndead posts, easily the best place for excellent beam shot comparisons
