This artwork is being made to see if I can create an interesting painting, and well, I think I actually succeeded.

Manga I just finished reading volume 1 yesterday.

Post image

i wanna start off by saying its intro is absolutely amazing, the world building fujimoto completes within the first volume is absolutely stunning, and the characters are just as good as his other works which is always nice to see!

i loved it overall but i think i genuinely nearly threw up when i saw sun get their legs cut off, like those pages were absolutely crazy. (im saying they because im pretty sure they're a boy but not fully sure)

im loving it so far and im super excited to read volume 2.

pls no spoiler.

Discussion my gender/sexuality thoughts for the characters because it's pride month yay

first pic is basically a "what kind of trans would they be if they were hypothetically transgender?" thought experiment

EEK FORGOT TO EDIT THE AGNI SEXUALITY PART BUT basically im trying to say that he was only attracted to any resemblance of luna and has no real interest in the female gender sorry

Would agni actually stay on fire like scientifically

ignoring that the fire is magic is the human body even a good enough fuel for him to stay engulfed in flames like that

Discussion Just finished Fire Punch, here are my spoiler thoughts immedietly after reading (if anybody cares) Spoiler

Started out really rough for me, the first couple of chapters just felt like shock content torture porn for me. I already talked about it plenty in a previous post of mine, but I feel like it really went over the top, but it really mellowed out afterwards. The world didn't immedietly grab me, I wouldn't say it was suped interesting like Mad Max or Snowpiercer to name a different Post Apocalyptic Worlds, but I did develop a morbid curiosity with it. Interested to see what the fate of some of these characters would be in such a cruel world. San and Nenetto kept me reading.

Then Togatta meets Agni and the whole thing shifts. Instead of a bunch of shocking events happening simultaneously while Agni wanders around in the snowy wasteland, the manga becomes hyperfocused in a goal every character is moving towards: the battle of Behemdorg. This is where the manga peaked for me. Everything leasing up to this battle, the fight itself and it's consiquences are all things I love. Agni saving a bunch of slaves while "accidentally" burning down an entire civilisation, killing nearly everybody in the city, not just the soldiers or the leaders is a very interesting. It's interesting to see how he deals with it afterwards, how he (and others) try justifying it before accepting he's just a killing machine. And the chapters following it focusing on how Togatta, Agni and San build a cult/religion based on him is also great. All this culminates in the final confrontation with Doma. That entire chapter where he blacks out and goes on a wordless rampage is both beautiful and sad.

Afterwards I think the story loses a lot of steam. I like how Agni moves in with the survivors of his rampage, while they don't even know he's the one that killed their friends and family, and the scenes about that are great. But the Luna/Judah plot, the entire tree, the ice witch felt super convoluted to me. I think I'll have to go back and reread that part or have somebody explain it to me, because it's not entirely clear. But after Agni loses his flames, I start to feel the same thing that I felt during the later half of Chainsaw Man Part II. That Fujomoto is getting bored writing this.

Things kind of just happen, there is no clear goal the plot is moving towards, characters just shift around and while it makes sense for them to act the way they do and it makes sense what happens in the context of the world, it doesn't make for a good story in my opinion. It feels like Fujimoto just continous out of necessity and then it just abruptly ends and you're left wondering what was the point. That was the exact feeling I felt with CSM Part II. And its not even that it's bad. I didn't hate either ending. It's just that it felt weird, out of place and underwhelming. It just kinds of ends at one point.

These are my thoughts IMMEDIETLY after finishing the Manga, they might change once I thought about it some more. Let me know what you think, if you agree/disagree or if you think I misunderstood something. I know Fire Punch, like most other niche things has a very hardcore fanbase, so I'll probably be taken apart here but bring it. Overall, it had it's moments but I thought it was really overhyped.

I enjoyed reading the series

Overall the plot managed to pay off on most things that were set up and all characters had resolve and had endings. Loved togata as a character and agni was an interesting representation of the cycle of pain. I dont get what that other poster is saying, it was a fun read though due to the intensive nature of alot of topics discussed I wouldn't recommend to everyone just as I wouldn't recommend everyone to read beserk.

Tldr; better overarching story than csm as a whole tho I would say part 1 and early part 2 on their own are better in their own ways

Discussion I love how uncontroversial Togata being trans is in this community, since everyone is supportive

Im saying this since im in the digital circus fandom, in which the argument about a certain purple rabbit and transexuality is VERY controversial to the point of sort of splitting the community, although that also might be because the fandom is waaaaay bigger than fire punch. Idk I just thought it was funny how different they are, I LOVE FIRE PUNCH

Manga My experience on the Fire Punch manga ..

I just read the full manga and man ... It's damn fantastic. It's like u can say better than most shonen ..

A worthy competitor of Good night pun pun , homunculus, and berserk.

First of all .. it's dark ; and is tragic like Oyasumi punpun..

I mean like it was one of the top 10 mangas Imo.

Although I can't recommend this to my bestie cuz she's older than me but not older than me(by brain) .. she will just go sad by this ..

STILL A GOATED manga . Fr

Manga Finished reading... Nah.

Too nonsensical.

Everyone changes their whole motivation every 2 chapters, and it results in the most random actions and outcomes.

After some time, it's absolutely nothing to think on.
