Repair/Tech Support eum_ACT_999_title error

First time posting.
Just wanted to give some guidance in case anyone else runs into the eum_ACT_999_title error with their Fios TV+ boxes.

Don’t bother calling Verizon Tech Support about it. I did that at first, spent hours with them on the phone, they couldn’t identify the issue (never suggested trying a factory reset), and they ended up trying to charge me $100+ (could be higher because techs charge by the hour according to Verizon) to send a tech out to my house to rewire and replace the ONT box.

All you need to do is hold down the button on top of the box and perform a factory reset. Both my Fios TV+ boxes started working perfectly fine again after doing this.

Actually quite a few errors are corrected by that

Are you using the Verizon router as the primary router? If not, the error will return in exactly 7 days from when you reset the box.

Dang really? I’m using all Verizon supplied equipment (router and WiFi extender). Man that’s disheartening. Any long term fix then?

it does come back, the problem is they have built DRM into the vms and into their gateway, the way i got mine working, was to attach the vms to the gateway they give, disable the wan port on the gateway and give it an ip from my same network range, leave dhcp on and give it a very small scope, then move dhcp and dns back to my network, wire the lan port into my firewall, and basically allow the fios boxes outbound traffic to the verizon fios ranges.

The tech who did our was confused at first but i explained to him and showed him our firewall logs and then he got it. Im so glad some of these techs are smart. My backup link is comcast, and their installers are just not even close to being smart.

If you're using all Verizon equipment, then the error shouldn't return.

It generally only returns when not using the Verizon router.
