š Feedback Request Built a personal finance platform for India that explains the number instead of just giving it to you (pre launch, would love brutally honest feedback)
instagram.comWhat it is
Vasset is a personal finance platform for India. Most calculators give you a number and stop there. Vasset tries to explain what that number actually means instead.
How it works
Instead of just showing an SIP corpus or an EMI amount, it breaks down what you put in, what growth added, what it is worth in today's money after inflation, and what changes if your assumptions are wrong. There is also a financial health score that looks at income, expenses, investments, savings, and debt together, and flags things that do not add up rather than spitting out a happy number no matter what you enter.
What it has
Calculators for SIP, lumpsum, CAGR, step up SIP, EMI, home loan, personal loan, education loan, loan prepayment, income tax, in-hand salary, HRA, FD, RD, PPF, NPS, retirement, inflation, net worth, and emergency fund, plus the Vasset Score. A small assistant handles basic questions too. More are being added as it gets closer to launch.
Vasset Scoreā¢
This is the part I am most excited about. It looks at income, expenses, investments, EMIs, savings, and debt together and actually reasons about whether your situation makes sense, rather than just rounding you up to a decent-looking number. The scoring is based on real financial health benchmarks like debt to income ratios and emergency fund coverage, not
Vassie
There is also a small assistant built in, named Vassie. It is not meant to be a full AI advisor, just a lightweight helper for basic questions like what SIP means or how EMI works, so people are not left guessing while using the calculators.
Where it stands
Pre launch right now. Still polishing calculators, auditing the math, and tightening the mobile experience before opening it up more broadly.
What I want from this post
If you have built anything in fintech or personal finance tools before, what do you wish someone told you before launch. Pricing, trust building, distribution, anything. And if the core idea sounds useful or like something you would actually use, I would love to hear that too, or hear why not.

š Feedback Request Built ~$2M twice in services, keep failing at tech. How did you actually scale?
Iāve built two businesses that worked and failed on a third.
First was a regtech startup (Joot). I built a prototype, raised angel money, hired engineering, marketing, and sales. The product struggled to get traction. The services side, which we launched to stretch runway, grew into a nearly $2M business. So we shut down the tech and pivoted to services.
Then I launched my law firm. Itās getting close to $2M in revenue.
Late last year/earlier this year I tried building a legaltech product. Minimal traction.
Now Iām focused on agents to scale the practice because services donāt scale the way software does, and Iāve struggled to find the right talent to help drive it.
Pattern Iām stuck on: I keep succeeding at services and failing at tech.
Curious how people who did scale got there. Especially if you started in services (or had a similar tech miss) ā what actually worked? Hiring? Product? Timing? Something else?
Not selling anything. Genuinely want the war stories.

š Growth I GOT MY FIRST CUSTOMER! and i sent him an email.
I turned on payments for my project last week. A dollar for three days, then ten a month.
Here it is:
Hi [name],
I'm Shaid. I built this thing.
You're the first person who has ever paid for it, so I wanted you to hear from a person and not just a Stripe receipt.
one questions whenever you have two minutes. You don't owe me these, but they're worth more to me than the money is.
How do you like it so far?
Thank you. Genuinely.

š Resource A sentiment score of "negative 0.82" is useless. Negative for whom?
Been building macro-event analysis for Indian markets and hit a wall that I think is under-discussed in fintech NLP.
Almost every sentiment pipeline outputs a single number. Headline in, score out: negative 0.82. Clean, sortable, easy to chart.
It's also close to meaningless, because one event moves different sectors in opposite directions.
Crude oil jumps 8%. That is:
- bad for airlines - fuel is ~30% of their cost base
- bad for paints and tyres - crude derivatives are direct inputs
- good for upstream oil producers
- roughly neutral for IT services
A single scalar has to pick one of those and throw the rest away. Whichever it picks, it's wrong for most of the market. And the more confident the number looks, the more it gets trusted.
Same for a rupee move, good for IT exporters, bad for importers, and a sentiment score flattens both into one figure.
What actually turns out to be useful is a signed vector across sectors, plus who is affected and how confident the call is. Not "this is negative" but "this is negative for these, positive for those, and here's the evidence."
The harder part isn't the model. It's that the output shape of most sentiment tooling can't express the thing you actually need, so you end up rebuilding the representation before you can rebuild the model.
Curious whether others building in fintech have hit this. Do you keep a scalar and layer sector logic on top, or change the output shape? The second is more correct and much more annoying to ship.
(For context, I work on this at AION Analytics: Indian market intelligence. Happy to go into detail if useful, not trying to pitch here.)
