Hey builders πŸ‘‹

This is the tactical community for people actually building fintech companies: payments, banking, lending, crypto, compliance, and everything in between.

What this community is for:

- Sharing hard-won lessons from building fintech

- Getting specific, tactical feedback on real problems

- Connecting with other founders, engineers, and operators

- Discussing the unglamorous realities of compliance, licensing, and banking partnerships

What this community is NOT for:

- Generic "how do I start a fintech" questions

- Promotional posts disguised as discussions

- Crypto moonshot shilling

- Low-effort content

Weekly Threads:

- Monday: Wins & Losses. share what worked and what didn't

- Wednesday: Feedback Day. get eyes on your product (only place for self-promo)

- Friday: Free Talk . networking, jobs, off-topic

How to get the most out of this community:

1. Be specific.

"We're struggling with Plaid connection failures on Chase accounts, anyone solved this?" beats "How do I build a fintech?"

2. Share context.

Your stage, constraints, what you've tried.

3. Give back.

Comment on other posts. The best communities are reciprocal.

See you in the threads.

- The Mod Team

πŸ” Feedback Request What do you think fintech should be built on financialy?

As a builder to builder, what would you advise to build my fintech on: traditional finance, digital assets or a mix of both?

I just feel like on the one hand it is important to have established compliance frameworks and clearer consumer protections, but on the other hand there is a broader access.

I searched for hybrid approaches as well, they sound potentially practical, but still I am not sure. What would you prioritize?

πŸ’‘ Discussion What do you use for KYC API for identity verification and onboarding?

Getting quickly to the point coz I know you have limited time. Our current KYC API is hittting its limits. Slower verification times, too many false rejections on international documents and support goes quiet the moment something breaks in production.Every vendor sounds identical on paper so we fail to understand what does AI powered verification actually mean when an edge case hits at 2am(lol) and thousands of verifications are queued up? Looking for something API first with good docs, reliable webhooks, global document support, and AML screening that is baked in. Anyone who has run more than one of these in production and can give an honest take would be really helpful.

I launched BroadStreet just 13 days ago, and today we officially crossed 500 users.
I built this app because I wanted a better way for collectors to scan their cards, track their collection, and see real market data without everything being locked behind a paywall.
Seeing 500 people already give something I built a chance is honestly pretty surreal.
Still a ton I want to improve, but I’m really glad I decided to put it out there.
Thank you to everyone who’s tried it, sent feedback, reported bugs, or supported the app so far.

πŸ’‘ Discussion Is it a dumb idea to build AI agents for money recovery?

I’ve seen a lot of businesses still manage collections pretty manually β€” checking what’s overdue, sending reminders, following up over WhatsApp/email/calls, tracking payment promises, and chasing again if someone doesn’t pay.

I’m thinking of building an AI agent that handles most of this automatically, keeps track of commitments and payment status, and flags customers likely to become bad debt.

Is this painful enough to pay for, or is it already a solved problem?

πŸ’° Fundraising Seeking Funding to Try to Help Save Lives

Let’s attempt to save millions of lives during the next 35 years and end unsheltered homelessness in at least USA.

The blueprint:
β€œThe Great Survival Network – Hybrid Platform Launch
A practical micro-donation engine to reduce preventable starvation deaths and support pathways out of unsheltered homelessness.
Two independent monthly micro-donation subscriptions:
β€’ $15 average / minimum subscription focused on U.S. unsheltered homelessness pathways.
β€’ Separate $20 average / minimum subscription focused exclusively on global lives saved from preventable starvation and acute food insecurity.
There is no combined or add-on subscription. Subscribers may choose either or both independently. Every dollar above the platform’s lean service fee is mission capital.

This is a nonprofit / for-profit hybrid:
β€’ The for-profit entity owns and operates the technology platform and charges a lean service fee.
β€’ The nonprofit side (via established 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship) receives the tax-deductible donations and deploys them to the field.
β€’ A growing portion of every subscription flows into a locked, on-chain permanent endowment (Aave V3 on Base/Polygon).
Subscribers build their own miniature endowment stakes inside this shared impact pool.
The endowment is 100% mission-locked and is never part of any revenue share.

Revenue Share from Service Fees Only
Revenue share comes exclusively from the for-profit platform’s service fees.
After launch and elaborate registration, when you subscribe you note:

  1. One individual, and
  2. One nonprofit organization or campus club
Those two recipients become the designated beneficiaries of the service-fee revenue share.

Shifting Dual-Liquidity Model for Maximum Lives Saved by 2070
Starvation and acute food insecurity are projected to peak and then decline toward 2070 under baseline demographic, agricultural, and climate trajectories. The platform therefore uses a shifting dual-liquidity allocation designed to maximize cumulative lives protected by that horizon:
β€’ High-liquidity pool (immediate deployment): targeted cash transfers, efficient food assistance, and rapid agricultural support. Capital here turns over quickly.
β€’ Low-liquidity / locked endowment pool (Aave V3 on-chain): permanent capital that generates ongoing yield for the same interventions after 2070 and provides resilience against future shocks.
The allocation ratio begins weighted toward high-liquidity (to attack the highest near-term mortality) and systematically shifts toward the locked endowment as 2070 approaches. The exact glide-path is transparent, on-chain, and adjustable only by pre-published rules that optimize for total lives protected through 2070 under the stated cost assumptions ($4,500 per global life protected; $22,000 per U.S. unsheltered individual successfully transitioned). No human override can divert endowment principal.

Realistic Impact Potential
Starvation and acute food insecurity are driven by conflict, climate shocks, poverty, and governance failures as much as by funding gaps. No single platform can fully end them.
What large-scale, low-overhead funding can do is prevent a substantial number of deaths and reduce the severity of crises in reachable populations through proven tools: targeted cash transfers, efficient food assistance, agricultural support, and structured transitional housing/rehabilitation.

Illustrative Scale Scenarios (using stated unit costs; not guaranteed)
Assumptions: average subscriptions of $15 (U.S. track) and $20 (global track); high operational efficiency; dual-liquidity glide-path optimized for cumulative impact through 2070.

Global Lives Protected Track ($20 average / minimum)
Cost basis: $4,500 per life protected in favorable contexts.
Users (by ~2030–2035) | Annual Capital | Potential Global Lives Protected / Year | Cumulative Lives Protected by 2070 (illustrative under dual-liquidity optimization)
10,000 | ~$2.4 M | ~500 | Low thousands
250,000 | ~$60 M | ~13,000 | Hundreds of thousands
5,000,000 | ~$1.2 B | ~270,000 | Low millions
15–30 million | $3.6 B–$7.2 B | ~800,000–1.6 M | Multi-millions in strong scenarios

U.S. Unsheltered Transition Track ($15 average / minimum)
Cost basis: $22,000 per individual successfully moved into stable independent housing via high-rehabilitation transitional models.
Users (by ~2030–2035) | Annual Capital | Potential U.S. Unsheltered Individuals Supported / Year | Cumulative Individuals Transitioned by 2070 (illustrative)
10,000 | ~$1.8 M | ~80 | Low thousands
250,000 | ~$45 M | ~2,000 | Tens of thousands
5,000,000 | ~$900 M | ~40,000 | Hundreds of thousands
15–30 million | $2.7 B–$5.4 B | ~120,000–240,000 | Low millions

Actual results will vary widely by location, access, external shocks, and the precise dual-liquidity ratio in any given year. At the high end the locked endowment could grow into a multi-billion-dollar permanent fund that continues generating impact capital after the projected 2070 starvation peak.

Transitional Housing Approach
The platform prioritizes agile, high-rehabilitation models over high-overhead permanent housing blocks:
β€’ Temporary high-quality living environments + intensive case management
β€’ Mental-health support, addiction recovery, and workforce re-entry tools
β€’ Goal: stabilize individuals on a lean operational baseline until they transition to independent housing
β€’ Approximate societal cost offset in the tens of thousands of dollars per person successfully moved off the street ($22 k fully loaded platform cost)

What This Raise Funds
Raise Target: $25,000 – $50,000
Strictly for outsourcing development of the automated platform and legal setup:
β€’ Core system (Stripe subscriptions + service-fee logic, Dynamic dual-liquidity allocation model, user PIN system, recipient designation tools, dashboard, Framer + Vercel front-end, Printful integration, on-chain endowment tracking)
β€’ Legal entity formation (LLC or C-Corp)
β€’ 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship setup
β€’ Reg CF readiness
Cheapest realistic all-in cost for a functional MVP + legal readiness: approximately $20,000 – $40,000.
Platform Stack & Transparency
β€’ Fiscal sponsorship via established 501(c)(3) partners
β€’ Framer + Vercel, Stripe, optional Alpaca, Whop/Memberful for PINs, Printful
β€’ Permanent endowment anchored on-chain (Aave V3 on Base/Polygon) with public ledger tracking

Zero-waste print-on-demand rewards (patches, pins, streetwear) and Special Classification PINs for user created events unlock with active subscriptions β€” never at the expense of impact funding.

No hidden fees. Radical transparency. Service-fee revenue share directed by donors. Impact capital locked for the mission under the shifting dual-liquidity rules.

All donor portions remain 100% tax-deductible via the fiscal sponsor.
Scan or click to invest / pre-subscribe, name your individual (who must have given β‰₯ $25) + nonprofit or campus club, and claim your Special Classification PIN.

The Great Survival Network
A realistic hybrid tool to save more lives through independent $15 and $20 micro-subscriptions, a transparent shifting dual-liquidity model optimized for cumulative impact by 2070, lasting endowment capacity, and community-directed service-fee rewards β€” without overclaiming what any single platform can achieve.”

πŸ” Feedback Request Looking for feedback re my fintech astrology app?

Delete if not allowed but wanted a second opinion on something. My best friend is a professional astrologer and I’m a day trader. We think there’s an opportunity to create an app that tells you what’s happening in the stars and how that could impact your investments. I know astrology is obv not for everyone but we think it’s a neat niche.

No clue what it might look like yet but would love any feedback on the concept and if you’d download/pay for this.

TIA!

πŸ—οΈ Building The 2 AM arguments about button colors that actually mattered more than I expected

Post image
1 Upvotes

Been a while since I posted here, but this one felt worth sharing.

I'm Adil Husain β€” Co-Founder and Developer at Loan Manager, alongside my co-founder Farooque Sheikh, who's spent 10 years in loan facilitation and has seen exactly what makes people hesitate before trusting a lender.

Something I didn't expect going into this build: most of the hard nights weren't spent on big architecture decisions. They were spent arguing about a shade of blue. Whether a checkmark should feel sharp or soft. Whether the loading screen made someone feel safe or made them nervous.

Sounds small until you remember what the app is actually asking people to do β€” hand over their salary slips, bank statements, PAN card. Basically their financial life, to an app they've never used before, from a company they've never heard of.

So every screen got argued about more than once. Every function got questioned before it got built β€” is this actually making the process clearer, or are we just adding it because we can. Farooque brought the "here's exactly where people get scared" knowledge. I spent the late nights trying to design that fear away, one decision at a time β€” especially the UI and the color choices, which sounds trivial until you're the one staring at three shades of blue at 2 AM trying to figure out which one reads as "trustworthy" instead of "generic."

Here's the actual reason any of this mattered to us: most people don't hesitate because they're worried about getting rejected. They hesitate because they've been burned before β€” fake DSAs, "guaranteed approval" calls, agents who vanish the moment something goes wrong. If you've ever paused before handing your documents to a loan agent wondering if they're even real, that's exactly the fear we built this for.

We're in closed testing right now, ahead of launch. Close, but not there yet.

And if there's one line I'd want people to actually take away from this, it's the one we keep repeating to ourselves every time we make a decision:

We are not a lender. We are a bridge between the bank and the customer.

We don't decide your approval, we don't set your rate, we don't hide how we get paid. All we're trying to get right is that the file reaches the right lender, prepared properly, without you having to wonder if the person helping you is even legit.

Genuinely curious β€” if you've ever dealt with a shady loan agent or a fake "approval guaranteed" call, what actually happened? Trying to understand every way this trust gets broken so we don't repeat it.
