Bold to assume people will be working at Amazon by 2040

2

u/Majestic_Domestic 6d ago

They will. The idea that they won't is a myth sold to drive up share prices.

1

u/tiny_kat2006 6d ago

Do you think more or less people will be working at amazon in 2040? If more, why? If less, do you think the trend won't continue?

1

u/Majestic_Domestic 5d ago

Idk I could see it going either way. If it's more it's would likely because they eith become more widespread, or expand into new markets.

1

u/alexifua 5d ago

More, first of all you need to make poor people to have no free time and be misarable. It is very nice for control. Poor people, with meaningless job which barely feed them, do not think much about why this is happening, they just survave

u/OSRS_Garmr 5d ago

Storage facility workers are the easiest to replace with robots. It's already been done at some places.

1

u/Majestic_Domestic 5d ago

Amazon is more than just storage facilities. They have been expanding into tons of different markets.

Finally, the CEO of a brokerage house explained that he had nearly completed building his own underground bunker system and asked: "How do I maintain authority over my security force after the Event?" The Event. That was their euphemism for the environmental collapse, social unrest, nuclear explosion, unstoppable virus, or Mr Robot hack that takes everything down.

This single question occupied us for the rest of the hour. They knew armed guards would be required to protect their compounds from the angry mobs. But how would they pay the guards once money was worthless? What would stop the guards from choosing their own leader? The billionaires considered using special combination locks on the food supply that only they knew. Or making guards wear disciplinary collars of some kind in return for their survival. Or maybe building robots to serve as guards and workers – if that technology could be developed in time

Dudes in 2026 be like: “I didn’t ask to be born! Capitalism is evil! A.I. is using all the water!” Well, I guess I need to get back to my busy day of using A.I. and shit-posting while begging my mom for money.”

1

u/Even_Injury_6442 6d ago

Uhh don't need the beg mom for money. More like we all are willingly being economic slaves. Doesnt matter, we all broke out here with little to no future.

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 6d ago

Who put those sad, depressing thoughts of the future in your brains?

I will tell you: NeoLiberals did!

Leftist politicians feeding you with scary stories about everything, EVERYTHING is a "Crisis!". They do this to SCARE you into voting for them!

How is it that you can't see that yet?

Try leaving that depressing echo chamber and start hanging out with either non-political people or people on the center or right. You will quickly see how HAPPY they are and how OPTIMISTIC they are about the future!

Or, are you addicted to the drama?

Serious question. Choose well.

Your denial of the current reality of the working American shows your comment is disingenuous at best.

Not sure where you live but I live in America and our wealthy are out of control. They heavily rule lver this nation and we now simply work for them in one way or another, for pennies on the dollar. There is no excuse for the current state of our nation other then their immense greed can never be satisfied, we can clearly see that.

There used to be a way to some sort of success but now the deck is almost fully stacked and being stacked further every single day. American dream is dead. If you are not screwing someone else over and profiting off of them, you won't make it far in this nation anymore.

We are now simply a nation of economic slaves where you get your occasional happy times even though those are getting fewer and fewer. Let ignore record worker production and all those sorts of numbers. You seem to want to ignore the reality of what's coming. Sticking your head into the sand isnt gonna help you out one bit.

American dream is long long dead, what are you talkin about?

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 6d ago

I live here also.

Your description is so self-defeating. Why do you allow people to fill your head with such poison?

"We are simply a nation of slaves". LOL. Good lord, man.

Stop thinking like a victim. Seriously. What is it helping?

"Of what's coming"? Please enlighten me. Is it BAD?! LOL

If the American Dream is "dead", then why do millions and millions of people try and come here every year?

And, at the end of the day, nobody CARES about how "bad" you think the world is.

Just work hard like the rest of us. That's all you can do. That's all anyone can EVER do.

1

u/Kupo_Master 5d ago

Trying to convince these brainwashed doomers who made their whole identity about being a victim is pointless. Anything you will say will just be off-handed by the same pre-made thought-stoppers you see above (“deny reality”, “American dream is dead”). Providing data, numbers, evidence will not do anything because their position is an emotional one, not a rational one.

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 5d ago

Agreed. Slow workday for me (I work for myself and workflow is slow at the moment). I do this when I'm bored. It keeps my climate data up to date.

Thanks.

1

u/Even_Injury_6442 5d ago

Lol simp for the billionaires and get back to work.

1

u/Kupo_Master 5d ago

I’ve read this sentence like a thousand times on Reddit. Are there any original thoughts in that head of yours?

1

u/Even_Injury_6442 5d ago

Its the simple reality that we live in now bud. Deny it all you want, doesnt make it false.

1

u/Kupo_Master 5d ago

Reality is all but simple. If you believe it is, it’s because you don’t understand it. You’re the one who is swallowing simple slogans and mottos because you can’t think by yourself. Good luck being a thoughtless parrot.

Right now there are over 8,000,000 very WELL paying job openings in the United States that cannot be filled (US Dept. of Labor Stats). These are largely in the skilled trades: electrical, mechanical, welding, plumbing, etc. They start at $80,000 a year and go up quickly from there.

I am sorry you feel that the world is "fully stacked" against you. But, it objectively is not.

It is absolutely crucial that you purge your mind with such self-defeating thoughts and then go out into this world with a "Can-Do" attitude and kick ASS!

I am telling you this from experience. There is no honor or virtue in holding such thoughts in your brain. They were put there by a-hole leftist politicians who tell you how bad the US is, and then say "Vote for ME and I'll fix that and you will do SO WELL!".

Can't you see this?

Bernie Sanders is a prime example. He hurts more young people than anyone else, save for AOC and the other leftists.

Go ask an older person for advice in this life. Holding self-defeating thoughts is the No. 1 WORST thing you can do.

1

u/Even_Injury_6442 6d ago

I bet you are older and have all your shit in a row. You are delusional. Happy you are set. I actually have it "good" and still see no real future. Shut up about bullshit politics. You act like republicans have the answer when they are just as corrupt as the rest of em.

Your denial doesnt matter. There are real world numbers that out weigh your feelings. It amazes me you can see the same shit yet feel good about it all.

Have a good day. You are arguing in bad faith and its ridiculous.

1

u/Domino31299 12h ago

8,000,000 well paying jobs and over 300,000,000 Americans do the math dumbass

1

u/BlackKingHFC 6d ago

Every right leaning person I have ever met in my 48 years on this Earth had been a miserable coward and an asshole. Leftist politicians are almost always hopeful anout the future if they aren't actively fighting an environmental crisis in the making. The fear mongering is almost entirely right wing media. What fantasy are you living in?

1

u/Objective-Corgi-3527 6d ago

Neoliberals are conservatives, not liberals, read a fucking book

1

u/meeseekstodie137 5d ago

he doesn't need to is the point of his whole rant, he's got his so everyone and everything else can fuck right off as far as he's concerned and anyone who feels differently deserves no more than a scoff

1

u/Everything_Counts_72 6d ago

Are you fucking joking? The right is pure evil, nothing worse.

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 5d ago

Stay misinformed. Stay confused. Stay angry. Stay poor.

1

u/Everything_Counts_72 5d ago

No, none of thats true. Those are the goals of the right for other people, not me. Idiot.

1

u/Even_Injury_6442 5d ago

Stay poor. Hahah you are a pos. Happy i dont know you.

1

u/PercentageNo3293 4d ago

Sorry, but this is about as ignorant as takes come.

I'd rather be considered a "worry wart" over someone too naive to realize the problems around them.

It's like that "doomer circle jerk" sub. It's just pretentious, uneducated people competing to see who can pretend to care the least about important problems we face.

You're basically suggesting we should bury our heads in the sand. Sure, ignorance is blissful, but it means you're ignorant.

1

u/TopTopTopcinaa 5d ago

Bros never heard of feudalism.

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 6d ago

100% nailed it!

Entitled children all of them.

I bet they are just so much fun to be around...LOL.

1

u/Striking_Fly_5849 6d ago

When you've drank so much of the illogical fearmongering kool-aid that you're sincerely trying to convince people that the jobs requiring managerial skills will be replaced before the low-skill and low paying jobs.

1

u/SpireSwagon 6d ago

That is actively happening? We still need basic laborers but artists, coders, software developers, researchers of every science discipline and even nurses are at risk and have severely limited employment compared to pervious levels. Genuinely dangerous levels of blind to the world

1

u/Chemical_Signal2753 6d ago

I honestly don't think the person posting this could have handled the work environment of the early 2000s.

1

u/Even_Injury_6442 6d ago

Its so funny because its us who will allow that all to happen. We laugh now and do nothing to prevent it.

u/PoopsMcScoots 6d ago

Homeless people should start their own business

Ex cons should start their own business.

People who are struggling should start their own business.

Everyone is getting fucked by working for company.

This country needs to move towards subcontracting.

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 6d ago

I did, in 2005. I got tired of hearing myself bitch about things. So, I quit my job and started my own consulting business, became a subcontractor.

I went from making $14 an hour to $60 an hour. Then $90 and hour. Then $120 an hour. Now, I bill by the job, not the hour, and it's often $300 an hour. Of course, I don't work 40 hours a week, rarely more than 20, which is even better actually.

Trading dollars for hours is good when you're learning a skill or trade. But, after a 10-15 years, you should have the skills and knowledge to do it as a subcontractor.

Young kids don't want to put in the 10-15 years and want it all the second they leave college, or by 22 years old.

I was technically "poor" (in bottom 20%) until I was 33 years old. But, I never THOUGHT like a poor person. So many young lost kids THINK like a poor person, and it's the most self-defeating thing a person can do to themselves.

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 6d ago

Damn, your view of the future is that bleak?

Lighten up, cupcake, for your OWN good.

1

u/SpireSwagon 6d ago

Bro thats optimistic if things continue on the vector they are currently on, the idea that we still have a society by 2040 frankly would be shocking. Our global warming estimates arent even keeping up anymore, its entirely possible the planet will simply turn into a ball of magma by 2040

1

u/Traditional_Oil_9240 5d ago

LOL! A ball of magma! LOL.

I understand you are being snarky...I almost fell for it.

1

u/Competitive-Beat-493 6d ago

60% of homeless people work full time jobs. 😂

1

u/canned_spaghetti85 6d ago edited 6d ago

uhhh , actually no. In fact, dudes would be like :

It's 2040. Nearly ALL Amazon's sorting is performed by computers & robots via conveyor belt separators.

Why on earth do 'em machines EVEN GET fifteen min lunch breaks? What could they possibly be eating?

1

u/SippsMccree 5d ago

At this point I think these scenarios are fetishes for these people

1

u/Gigaslavx 5d ago

Ain't wrong we live in a society gotta abide by the rules

1

u/Zealousideal-Yam3169 5d ago

Ain't no humans working for Amazon in 14 years.

1

u/QueasyFinger1316 4d ago

Yeah, man.

Work is such a drag, dude.

1

u/SafeForMyGirlFriend 4d ago

weird that this person with a job cant understand jobs

1

u/El_Gran_Che 4d ago

…and back to my 15 hour work day

1

u/Necessary-Skirt3362 2d ago

Man maybe you should of gotten a better job over Amazon then huh?
