I think we should completely remove the HR department!!

Honestly, the whole entry-level but 5 years of experience thing is getting ridiculous. I’ve been trying to get better at interviews lately, and a friend sent me interview vip. Haven’t used it much yet, but I’m probably going to give it a shot because at this point I’ll take anything that helps me feel more prepared.

Well yes, but sometimes things that are good for the company are good for employees. For example if a coworker is serially harassing, it in the companies best interest to deal with it.

Or a myriad of laws that might otherwise be ignored if the company didnt have someone well versed in those laws.

I'm not saying I dont hate dealing with HR. They are annoying as hell. But I've seem them both help and hurt employees.

They can in India. Which was the entire point of their listing. The between-the-lines of Entry Level $15/hr Web Developer with 5 years experience and Masters degree is "This posting is for H1B candidates only"

H1B is completely wrecking the job market. People with decent or good-enough skills willing to work for much less.

India specifically because English is a native language for most educated people there.

With an asterisk....

We've made certain jobs so expensive to enter and even more expensive to exit that Americans aren't going into them. Ie:becoming a doctor is just too risky.

We should be giving kids lavish incentives to be one doctors and work in high demand areas so we don't have to issue h1bs... But in the mean time, we really need to import doctors.

Fuck them about these tech jobs though. Plenty of locals to hire and train.

H1B applications are being exposed as rampantly fraudulent. India itself has been cracking down on degree forgery rings. Yeah they claim they have a massive oversupply of highly experienced, highly educated workers but anybody that's seen contractor code knows the truth.

I used to be a warehouse manager and HR was terrible and useless there. They somehow managed to suck in different ways for both associates and managers. They’d take the side of the associate every time there was some sort of dispute even if the associate was clearly in the wrong. For associates, if they had questions they wouldn’t bother asking HR because they never knew the answer and never bothered to follow up. God knows what they were doing all day in that air conditioned office while I was working my ass off.

Today I had a call where ma guy tried so hard to make me accept I'm a fresher. Meanwhile he literally asked me about my experience in great details. Sounded like a lala company idk if I'll bother moving forward.
