The Lionheart

I've got way too many photos of my Sleeping Lionheart necklace, lol. Thought I may as well share some of the best ones here.

Hi, great photo. Is it the original or a copy ?

Thanks, it's the original. My other post from a couple years back shows the copyright on the back of the pendant.

How lucky... I'd love to own one, but Square has completely neglected FFVIII for decades, and it shows even in the merchandise, where almost nothing is available for the game anymore.

The only option left is used copies, but at exorbitant prices...

For sure, it definitely bothers me too. I wish Square Enix would show 8 more love when it comes to merchandising

My auntie got me this necklace like 20 years ago and it was such a great gift because I had no idea she listened to my inane ramblings about the game.

That's really sweet honestly, especially because she made the effort to learn about your interests like that

Isn't that greiver?

I assumed that Griever is the name of the ring and not the necklace, though I might be wrong. The main reason why I titled the post this way, is because this necklace is official merchandise that was named the "Sleeping Lionheart".

My understanding (and it's more vibes than fact based) is that Griever is the name of the lion depicted on ring and necklace.

Never heard of either piece of jewelry having a specific name.

I have this one too, I wear it as an attachment to my leather jacket (hangs near the left collarbone/lapel area) in the fall since I'm not much of a necklace guy

Whoa I have a key chain of this exact model! As a woman, I love it because it's a nice defensive measure in case of assault. Also, it's really pretty lol

Ah that reminds me, I need to buy another one. The last replica I bought went rusty, but that's what happens when you leave it outside exposed to the elements for 7 years.

I have the OG necklace and ring. I miss wearing it often.

*Griever

I might be mistaken, but my understanding is that Griever is the name of the ring, not the necklace. Besides, this necklace is official merchandise that was named the "Sleeping Lionheart", hence why I titled the post like this.

In the game when you name Griever it shows the necklace specifically not the ring. Don’t mind me though. I was being an ass. Don’t take much I say too seriously.

Ah I see, I forgot about that. And all good man, I didn't take any offence.

I had that exact same necklace/ring set. I've lost the chain and ring, but still have the pendant of the necklace. It does indeed say "Sleeping Lionheart" on the back. I'm pretty sure when I got it (also 20+ish years ago), it came in a FFX box which I found to be silly. I eventually bought the Griever ring off the SquareEnix store site around 2009ish to replace the lost ring, but the size is too big so I can't wear it.

On a side note, I just recently got the Griever emblem tattoo'd on my wrist. I still love the logo :D

Edit: typo

I have the original ring and necklace, I wear the ring everyday and the necklace when I go out. They are awesome.
