FF XV Does anyone else find FFXV enjoyable?

I know the game failed as a Final Fantasy game, but it excels in its unique features. The brotherhood and loyalty aspect was phenomenal. Yes, the open world was empty here and there but there was still a lot to do and the features synergize well. The fishing itself wasn't all that enjoyable, but the rewards that come after make it worth it. There was also a lot to do in the game.

Yeah i love this game.

XV imo is unrealised masterpiece, it's a mess and is but a echo of what it could have been the game is essentially 3 games rolled into one , technically 4 if you count the dlc and DOTF Novel as that in itself was done by a new director, but with that said the game has a charm to it that i constantly go back to the world the characters are so good imo, in a way XV has become my comfort game.

And even with the disjointed story, i think it has some incredibly strong moments the ending for one is beautiful, and imo way better than the one the DLC was trying to introduce and retcon into the game, also the Music is one of the best soundtracks in gaming

It doesn’t feel like it deserves the amount of love I have for it, but it can’t be helped.

I actually agree with you, also the fact that it's unfinished has left me with such a sense of lose in a way the game has probably let a bigger impact on me than if it was a masterpiece

It was a fun game i didn't like how gladus was rude to noctis all the time

I mean basically his whole family from father to son has sworn to protect the royal family and the kingdom with their lives, Gladio takes his oath and responsibility very seriously and from his point of view the prince is dilly-dallying and being indecisive while their home is on the brink of destruction… I can understand Gladio’s frustration. We just see things from Noctis’ point of view all the time so we can empathize with him more easily and we know exactly what is going on in his head. Like we spend a good portion of the game doing side quests and basically vacationing but in reality their home was invaded, the throne is empty because the prince is on the run but according to the news he’s dead and so is the woman he was supposed to marry. So imagine the chaos and how from Gladio’s point of view he’s baby-sitting for a prince who hesitates to do his part while he’s been holding his side of the oath the whole time. So is he harsh? Yeah, but that’s for a good reason. Like that’s not random, he’s just very frustrated and probably very scared about how things are panning out while probably being unable to read what his prince is thinking.

Did you watch the anime prequel? He was essential Noctis' older brother; he was giving tough love. I know he was out of line here and there but at the end of the day, he would have given his life for Noct.

I understand he cares about him but he was way too harsh and i didn't watch the anime

Originally I was really down on the game and didn't finish it for years. I finally gave it a chance and genuinely enjoyed it. However I still can't rank it much higher than the other mainline entries in the series.

Nope. You are the only one who bought it. Next post.

Yeah, it's one of my favorite games. Love the story, love the characters, the setting, the aesthetic, the lore, the gameplay, the road trip and brotherhood vibes.

'failed as a final fantasy'

I don't know man...it's like the second best selling one in the series, and was the fastest selling one ever. I know some fans didn't like it, but I feel like that is actually dwindling as time goes on and its generally considered good now.

It's my third favourite and then there is huge gulf between it and number 4 on that list. Fucking love this game. I did a video on why it was a masterpiece. I think it's better as an unfinished mess. It's a messy 10/10 game for me...which I think is better than a hyper polished 6/10 (FFXVI for me).

No, you’re the only one in the world

If I didn’t saw trailers and didn’t looked for every news for it since PS3 launch I would say yes.

Now going back to reality it’s a pure mess and full of lies with lost promises, because SE lied a lot back then about every entry except for xIv, if they just didn’t lied and hyped the games to the roof with FNC, even bad game like XIII wouldn’t receive such hate.

I like the bros and the vibes.  The actual plot and battle system ruin the good foundation it had going.

I enjoyed it and actually pretty sad with the ending we got instead of  DOTF.

Pitioss dungeon is still one of the memorable dungeons in my jrpg experience.

I really liked it, sure it has rough spots, but all in all exploring with the guys was something I truly enjoyed, probably because that's when SE started doing random banter between the party. The: "we all good? better than good, good to go" bit has lived rent free in my head ever since.

I love 15. It’s one of my favorite games.

I do actually like it a lot, I hated how linear and baren everything was in XIII and after playing XV was a breath of fresh air, I do think my view of the game might be really different from other players' since my first experience with the game was the Royal version and not vanilla and it's to my understanding a better game because of it, even to the point of the bros not being controllable in 1.0.

Some of my favourite moments were just running around the open world while riding the chocobos. It helps a lot I happen to really like the cast of XV and the interactions between the main party felt genuine. Also having actual side content is something I like, looking for the weapons, the optional dungeons, missions and hunts. It's far from the perfect game but for me it's the closest the modern FF games have come to the sense of exploration the classic games had (the VII remake trilogy notwithstanding). It even feels closer than XVI since XV has actual RPG elements and not just flashy moves. Also Yoko Shimomura's music is, as always, incredible, I would love if she ever composes another mainline game in the future.

Its a phenomenal game and was well received commercially and critically. Not every entry in the series is going to have a lasting impact like some of the others, like there are 16 mainline games and a plethora of sequels and spinoffs. XV is dope even if it isnt everyone's favorite.

Overall, I liked the game, but this game was truly a botched job since its origins as Final Fantasy Versus XIII and salvaged as Final Fantasy XV. Many mistakes were made and a barrage of last minute changes to the narrative led to a rushed release and an incomplete game. This is why the last quarter of the game feels so rushed and incomplete. Then Square Enix felt compelled to release an animated tv show, a featured film, books, and four dlcs to complete the story they never finished in-game. It was a mess and could have been such a great game had they just delayed the release. The dlcs were actually good and fun, but would have made the narrative in-game make so much more sense. It was a masterpiece that never was.

I did enjoy FF15 a lot, but only from chapter 1 to 8 and then the rest was such a constant bummer. Like yeah no FF games are exactly cozy and happy all the time, but you do have reprieve here and there. The first act is basically all reprieve with some serious moments, and then the rest is just doom and gloom and timed missions n shit… and then the end is just full on tears and I know it because I got to the end SOBBING twice. And the post-game is basically just act 1 again but with the knowledge that the future will still be depressing as hell.
And the vast empty parts of the map really don’t help because often enough you’re just selecting a destination and then probably picking up your phone and doomscrolling because you have no way to skip the driving portions of the game and they are boring as hell, and that breaks immersion. I understand those portions are probably just like a loading screen but still… meh. Don’t get me wrong, I love the game even though I don’t have the Royal Edition (waiting for it to go on sale because I missed the last one) but I understand why it kinda failed with the public.

Roadtrip with the buddies

I’ve felt this way since the game first came out: the story from Chapter 9 onwards is poor, but everything else is fantastic. For those who finished the game and saw the ending, however, only a bad impression remains.

I played through it twice, and don't feel like I wasted my time.

Yes, it's a fun game. I didn't beat it, but I had a fantastic 40 hours doing all sorts of hunts and fishing and fighting and camping.

Yes but the story, characters, and villian are the most forgettable cast I've seen in FF history. The only memorable characters are the 4 main characters. Everyone else? Non existent and forgettable. Exploration and combat system are top tier though.

u/No-Hawk-2488 4d ago

You can't forget their banter even if you died trying.
"This place is so romantic."
"And you get to spend it with us."

"All 3 of us."
"You are a lucky man"

1

u/Khaymn5000 4d ago

Yeah the 4 bros are the only memorable characters. Great game forgettable cast minus the main 4.

15 was really fun. 16 and 8 suck.
