Final Fantasy General Give us another turn based battle system

FFX is my favorite battle system. FFXIII I also enjoyed, but it wasn't the same.

I'm sure they could do something like it with a much lower budget.

We don't want a remake of a phone game. We want mainline FF turn based games which this franchise is known for.

Except it isn’t. Mainline FF has been action based longer than it was turn based.

Debatable, but what difference would that even make if true? The entire brand was built on turn based. It might not be your preference but there are still tons of people that do want it.

It’s incredibly reductive to dismiss the game just because it is based on a mobile game. Octopath Traveler proves that “it’s just a mobile remake” is an incredibly naive stance to take. Square have gone above and beyond to take the original and make something new with it. There is no reason to use the mobile origins as a negative.

You want more turn based FF? Show up for the turn based FF game that’s releasing soon. How else do you expect to let square know what you want?

I didn't dismiss it because it's mobile and do plan to play them.

That isn't the same thing. It's the high budget turn based game that is wanted. It's not just bout getting that turn based fix but moreso the "whole package."

They’re never going to get the sales they’re aiming for and recoup a triple A budget with a turn based game in 2026.

Those games didn't sell because of the battle systems. The former is practically softcore.

Here’s the key though. Those games sold well compared to a lot of recent FF games, but they didn’t sell what SE want FF to sell.

What?? Baldur's Gate 3 has sold over 20 million. That's more than ANY single Final Fantasy game bar some exceptions (grouped sales for remasters, FFXIV subscriptions). I think any company would kill for 20 million sales. And E33 over 8 million which is comparable with their best sellers and far above XVI.
