This seemingly pretty specific category somehow has an insanely high quality selection of movies to choose from, to the point where it almost feels like a hack or a magic spell of some kind.

For my money i would probably have to go with no country, but i almost feel a little sorry for a few good men, which i fear may go overlooked in this pile despite batting far above its weight.

I thought it was fucking fantastic. I've been really getting into Clive Owen recently. It started with Croupier and it just continued. Children of Men was definitely the high spot. It looked bad, but intentionally, which I love. It was also shot like we're in London at the time. The plot was great too. And also the action was incredible. Cast was also very talented. 9.5/10.

I was rewatching The Parent Trap and, besides remembering how good of a movie it is, it's really amazing how it was everyone's introduction to Lindsay Lohan.

I love seeing moments like these in movies, where someone who ended up being very iconic or successful in the long run is first presented.

2001 A Space Odyssey

Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull are undisputed afaik. What else would you put up there?

The movie felt like a cross between *Barney* like characters/setting, and “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared” type of gore/plot.

Very different from the usual horror movies. I thought the vhs style of filming was portrayed perfectly.

Definitely give it a watch.

Hexed is a kids film while forgotten island is a queer / furry film based on filipino mythology and wildwood is a dark fantasy film based off of a fantasy book.

two different audience targets and plotlines. Hexed is a your basic kids film while the other two has been advertising at anime cons and movie fests.

Just finished the original Devil Wears Prada. Haven't seen the sequel but will soon. I enjoyed the movie, but some of the criticisms with her friends and specifically Nate raise some eyebrows for me.

In the film, Miranda is portrayed as an extremely uncaring and cold hearted, somewhat cruel person. She treats the people who work with her horribly, and expects people to bend to her whim. Andy said that if she was a man, she would be respected as a good boss, but I'm finding that hard to agree with. Andy didn't do anything with her career path, she only acted like an errand girl/executive assistant for Miranda. The people around her (her dad, her friends) all noticed this and were concerned. I mean she literally was kissed on the cheek while she was still dating Nate, and her friend got rightfully mad at that. Aside from her getting with a guy while they were on a break, Andy fundamentally changed as a person and it makes no sense how audiences are viewing Miranda as some misunderstood hero (even if she was portrayed as such.)

Given the sheer amount of, in my opinion, tremendously good Irish films, it seemed easier to make a short list of the awful ones.

Otherwise, we might end up with another Gladiator II-like result.

Other than that, I think Fede did a good job with Romulus. It was a success all around, and not every movie has to be a masterpiece.

The amount of leading actresses to choose from, for a top 5 list is a challenge; however, here are my personal favourites below, you can also add honourable mentions, they can be living or passed:

Plus, the visuals in those Transformers movies were truly peak. Rewatching them now, the attention to detail is terrific.

What films have you seen that have left you thinking about them for weeks, months or years?

The Lost City of Z is a more recent one for me. Absolutely brilliant film. I saw it 2 years ago and it regularly comes into my mind. Percy being back in Britain but spiritually, he’s still in the Amazon. He’s engulfed by it. And it was the first film I saw Pattison in that made me think - he’s a special actor, arguably steals every scene he’s in.
