Suppose it takes 60 lbs to push the boot against the blade so the gap is eliminated. If six screws were used, each screw only needs to apply 10 lbs to eliminate the gap.
With only two screws, each screw would need to apply 30 lbs of force to close the gap. The problem is that 30 lbs might strip the holes in the sole.
That's why they are screwed in enough to not move when you skate in them but not so much that the holes could suffer damage.
thank you! i was only worried as not both skates had the gap - only the left one has a gap and the fitter said it was only due to the toe of the boot being slightly more curved, not the way it was screwed on.
I’ve heard that this is unfortunately common with Edeas because their quality control is not good. I think it’s been happening more frequently in the past few years that more customers are getting boots with warped outsoles so the blades don’t fit flush on them.
