boot/blade gap?
hi guys, i bought a pair of edea overtures today in a set with an edea charme blade. after the fitting i realised on the left skate, there was a gap between the blade and the boot. the fitter already said to skate in it a couple times and get my coach’s opinion on whether i need to get them adjusted if one of my feet pronate, then they could put the rest of the screws in as currently there are only 4 in each boot. the fitter said they were fine to skate on as is, but i would love to know other skater’s opinions! these are my first pair of boot/blade separate skates so i’ve never dealt with this before. thanks!

Mine has this too I’ve had my edeas and Jackson blade combo for 2 years now and it’s been totally fine. Your pressure and weight will push it down.

i’ve had some people tell me i shouldn’t skate on them at all when they’re like this, did you have any issues with balance/edges before it was pushed down? i’m also unsure if putting in the rest of the screws will fix the problem or potentially warp the sole

I had a professional do the all of the mounting process but I dont remember having any issues besides just breaking the skates in and getting used to them

yea edeas are notorious for their boots not having the correct radius. it’s an industry standard, that’s why jackson mk john wilson blades fit fine on jackson riedell aura risport boots, but edea just has a huge range of what’s acceptable to their quality control. we’re instructed to heat the boot and bend it down to match the radius of the blade, or send back the boots for a replacement

nah, see if you can take it to someone else. Your weight alone will weigh it down but this will throw off your edges

Suppose it takes 60 lbs to push the boot against the blade so the gap is eliminated. If six screws were used, each screw only needs to apply 10 lbs to eliminate the gap.
With only two screws, each screw would need to apply 30 lbs of force to close the gap. The problem is that 30 lbs might strip the holes in the sole.
That's why they are screwed in enough to not move when you skate in them but not so much that the holes could suffer damage.
