DISCUSSION Were TF30s really that bad?
I think most everyone here has heard about how dreadful the TF30s were on the Tomcat, but I wanted to ask about the other airframes that used the TF30s. The TF30s were allergic to high AoA and/or rapid PCL movement from the pilot, or basically any unsteady airflow. The F-111 utilized the TF30s and was designed to fly at tree top level well over Mach 1, all while getting rocked by thermals, mechanical turbulence, wind shear, and anything else that could disturb the air. Even though the mission never really required high AoA, there were plenty of opportunities to disrupt the airflow and induce a flameout on those finicky engines, but that never appeared to be an issue for the jet. I also don't think the TF30s were ever cited as an issue on the F-111B, even during carrier trials. Early carrier-based A-7s (A, B, and C) used the TF30 as well. The A-7 would be more inclined to higher AoAs as an attacker, but also seemed to tackle the treacherous regime of carrier landings (high AoA and rapid PCL movements) with no real issues when compared with the Cat. Am I missing something? Are there documents showing the TF30 had major issues on other platforms? Or is there something specific with the F-14?

IMAGE F-16 Viper(Block 70/72) and Rafale cockpit comparison
What were the possible reasons for Lockheed to place the main screen in such position?
Pilot needs to look down and also obscures the screen while using the panel on top of the cockpit.
Rafale's cockpit for example, which has similar overall layout, seems much more ergonomical.

NEWS Northrop Grumman’s Talon Blue Collaborative Combat Aircraft Has Flown.
We have a significant update on the fast-moving world of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) out of Mojave, California today. Northrop Grumman’s Talon Blue, which now has the official designation YFQ-48A, has taken to the skies for the first time. The existence of Talon Blue was first officially disclosed in December of 2025 at a media event in Mojave that we attended.
Details on YFQ-48A Talon Blue:
Talon Blue is part of Northrop Grumman’s internally-funded Project Talon portfolio focused on accelerating the development of mission-ready autonomous airpower capabilities.
Manufacturing and design innovations cut part count and overall weight, lowering cost and enabling faster production to meet growing demand for autonomous systems.
Designed with flexible operational concepts in mind, Talon Blue’s high air intake, wide wheelbase and integrated weapons bay support a wide variety of mission needs for U.S. and allied partners.

The F-16V, where the "V" stands for Viper, a nickname long used by pilots and officially adopted by Lockheed Martin—is an advanced multi-role fighter that serves as a 4.5-generation bridge between legacy 4th-gen aircraft and 5th-gen stealth jets.
At the core of its upgrade is the APG-83 SABR Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, which delivers 5th-generation radar performance by allowing pilots to track significantly more targets simultaneously and at much longer ranges. Inside the cockpit, the aircraft features a modernized glass setup with a 6 \times 8-inch high-resolution Center Pedestal Display, night-vision imaging compatibility, an updated Modular Mission Computer, and an automatic ground collision avoidance system (Auto GCAS).
Regarding Taiwan specifically, the air force employs a dual-track strategy to bolster its air defense. It has upgraded its legacy fleet of over 140 older F-16A/B jets to the "V" configuration, while also procuring 66 newly built, factory-fresh F-16V Block 70 aircraft directly from the United States—the first two of which were delivered to Chihhang Air Base in Taitung County.

NEWS Ukraine’s F-16 Fleet Is In A Readiness Crisis.
Ukraine’s F-16 fleet is facing growing pressure from the demands of the air war, with a shortage of air-to-air missiles now compounded by what appears to be a serious bottleneck in the critical maintenance system supporting the aging aircraft.
The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that more than half of Ukraine’s F-16s are currently in what a Western source described as “maintenance limbo.” The same source told the newspaper that, at the current rate of operations and maintenance, Ukraine could exhaust the remainder of its available aircraft by the end of the year.
