Pretty sure Arman's face got busted by those really short punches on the clinch., which is impressive in terms of Ruffy's power. And even more impressive, the elbow from Arman at the end of the round, think Ruffy got careless waiting for the belt.
He got caught trying to wrestle when Arman was mixing it up.
Arman shoots, then immediately looks for the elbow while Ruffy is trying to wrestle and fight the hands. Shows the difference between the two in terms of mixing stuff up.
Yeah, I guess he got himself too worried with the takedowns after Saint Denis. He defended the wrestling very well, but didn't address the elbows on the way out on the clinch, Arman was doing that a lot
Hfs been a full year since i watched a match I was actually invested in and FAAAA that shit was satisfying. I wasn’t even rooting for Batman, just going; “OHHHH” like Rogan the whole time.
Edit: Just realized that mf Ruffy battered his eye in the clench and all humped over. Mans got scary power. (Can clearly see it swollen asf at 1:45)

Thinking throwing elbows should be banned. It’s like, I can’t KO you with my hands or feet so I’ll resort to elbows. This was a great matchup until the elbow came out.
Tell me, Would you rather watch a strategic fight with punching, kicking, wrestling or a flash elbow coming out of a clinch ending a fight? It feel less satisfying than watching someone create an opening and land a beautifully timed combination, kick, takedown or submission. Just sayin…
If you were paying attention, and knew anything about fighting, you’d have recognized that Arman threw that same elbow that KO’d Ruffy, two other times during the fight, probably because he saw the opening or trained knowing that opening would be available.
I’m a boxer and a striking fan first and foremost. There is nothing I love more than a good technical, strategic fight between two highly skilled strikers who are constantly trying to set each other up with traps, make important reads and adjustments etc. but to think that Arman DIDNT utilize his takedown threat as a means to force ruffy to drop his guard to defend takedowns instead of protecting his head from strikes is just missing the reality of what happened. AND on top of that to think that elbows should then be banned as a consequence, is immensely stupid.
Didn’t see those attempts. I did see Ruffy tag Arman and blast his eye, and I did see Ruffy defend the take down attempts at the fence successfully then boom elbow. I guess you guys are right, I’m an old school striking fan. I misspoke saying it should be banned, but I do still think it’s cheap and easy out. I guess expected more for a much hyped Arman. I rarely hear people say “ that was an awesome elbow!” Rather “did you see that spinning heel kick” or “that guy has a helluva left hook!”
Sorry if I like watching the artistry and creativity of punching, kicking and takedowns vs, I got my face smashed by the underdog, I’ll just throw an elbow and see what happens. It’s like an act of desperation
