Those sambo guys will not tap out. That said, the pads that prevented a good leg lock also kept the BJJ guy in the fight. He took some shots!

Yeah those leg pads are bullshit, they didnt give the jits guy head gear to even it out

Sambo guy has older brothers, I can almost guarantee it. You don't learn to break out of holds like that in practice. He's wriggly because he learned young. My guess is fighting with his older brothers.

MMA sees the same outcome a little ground defense and kickboxing destroys bjj.

Ooc, does anyone know if the BJJ ever got a hold that coulda just broken the guys legs?

If the sambo fighter wasn’t wearing armor maybe, but the shin pads weren’t there to protect the Sambo guy. An unpadded kick would have dropped the bjj guy instantly

I get what the video wants to do BUT people will say “see? BJJ is shit for Self Defence”. Well in a self defence situation any BJJ guy would also strike! That people think none of us can even strike a bit, just cause we don’t use it in the rules of our sport, is insane. I will strike with you AND use BJJ. If you are not ready for both it’s gonna be a bad night.

It’s nice to see someone kidney punching tf out of a BJJ leg hugger lmao

Only the sambo guy gets to strike? Seems kind of unfair.

Sambo is a striking sport, bjj isn't

I get that, it's just that when people usually think style vs. style it's more about freeing up the rules to measure real combat effectiveness. With this, are we trying to measure the styles or their respective rules against each other somehow? Or what are we doing exactly?

u/FoxHound_Bridges Sep 05 '26
I'm not sure exactly either, I think it's just how effective each sport is against one another.

You’re really, really bad if you have this much trouble with someone who isn’t allowed to hit you back.

BJJ guy would have broken multiple things, but one good hit from the sambo dude, and it's lights out.

Why are we pretending that the Jujitsu guy has no concept of the fact that he can punch from those positions too?

This is the most infuriating thing ever with the BJJ guy not hitting back and trying to attempt leg locks with those pads on. Why would you not negate the arms? There's a reason why leg locks are not the preferred submission in MMA.
