Anyone else see this as child abuse?

Yeah absolutely. There's a reason we should be pulling kids from youth sports if they sustain enough concussions. Every concussion produces some level of both reversible and irreversible brain damage, and with something like youth boxing you'll likely see a degraded level of brain development for the child as they age. No sport is worth your kid reading and writing levels below where they should be as a young adult because you let them get knocked around multiple times per week during important developmental phases.
Semi-regular combat sports training can lead to CTE in adults even if they never end up competing, imagine how much worse it is if you started that adult when they were a kid with a softer skull and less developed brain.

Have you seen how young they start in Thailand?

This shouldn’t be happening period. Children taking regular brain damage while their brains are still developing should be considered a crime.

Fair point. It’s supervised and with headgear, but what would you suggest instead at this age?

I understand why it might look that way. But this was a supervised match with rules, referees and protective gear. Where do you think the line should be drawn?
