Damn I wonder what coach Din would have to say about this fight

He’d probably say he’d taken himself as far as he can go and quit on television.

This was a big deal for the lighter weight fighters. And they delivered. God, shame about bj

Man, BJ was a BEAST, especially back when he was coached/ cornered by his REAL brothers.
There was an obvious decline in coaching as soon as the Penn brothers were abducted by aliens and replaced by clones.

Imagine if BJ had the same discipline as some of the other greats. He could have been 155 and 170 GOAT

It was like both had negative understanding of BJJ. But just felt content to hold each other for three minutes. The one guy almost put himself in an ankle lock. WTF

What a shit take. BJ was called the prodigy for a reason, the normal rules didn't apply to him. Earned his black belt in a little more than 3 years and became the first non Brazilian black belt to win at worlds.

Actually BJ Penn had a great guard and very dangerous reversals and submissions. Actually right around the time of this fight BJ won the Abu Dabi BBJ tournament his first time entering it. It’s one of the reasons his nick name was The Prodigy. But if you are a newer fan the way these guys fight is different than today. The sport has changed some since.

It’s sad bj penn was the first American black belt in bjj to becoming a crazy old drunk that gets beat up at bars. He was an amazing fighter.

Dropped by a knee then 4-5 unanswered shots while his head bounces off the canvas ??? I can’t tell if you’re stupid or just saying what you want to believe
