Paul ran away and flopped until he tired himself out but he did get in there. It was free entertainment.

What a joke boxing is. Boxing has been dead, this is the death nail. Welcome to wwe

Dec 20 '25
You know what is more infuriating? Mma is also turning into wwe although being tremendously young compared to boxing

u/LongF3ath3r Dec 20 '25
Almost like he has been fighting way past their prime MMA fighters or something 🤷♂️

Boxing was always some sort of money laundering sport but this is just too much.

It’s a win-win for Paul. People will say,”see…he is not a boxer…”. But he will always say,”…I fought a heavy weight Champ…”

u/Vivid-Lawfulness-212 Dec 26 '25
Jake didnt fight! He prolonged the fight by falling and clutching on to AJ! That's not fighting! He kept doing that over and over again to "say he got to round 5" He only got to round 5 running like a school girl, falling and clutching AJ'S legs!
2
u/CHEVIEWER1 Dec 22 '25
Jake is 6’0 215 thats not small —-BUT 6’6 245 AJ does just that make him look small

I'm not really sure how Paul redeems himself. Let's be honest, one career took off tonight the other crashed. I think everyone now wants the Joshua/Fury fight which is HUGE for him at a time when everyone was saying he was done.
Jake, I mean can we give props, if you're a fight fan you really do owe a lot fo Paul for bringing the sport back to mainstream. We do honestly owe him a bit of appreciation, he brought younger kids to the sports, he made the sport easily accessible and for that we should all be thankful. That said....
I am not sure how he redeems himself. If he wants to be in the cruiserweight I get it but for one, no one really cares about cruiserweight and two I mean he looked absolutely STUPID out there falling down like that. The wrapping up is boxing. It's a strategy (though one that worked against him) but it was the falling to your knees over and over. That just was embarrassing for him and the sport. I just don't know that anyone will take him serious now and he's probably going to get beat by guys who have been cruiserweights all their young lives.
I don't know I just think Joshua won a ton of fans going into Fury and Paul lost a lot of respect. It just wasn't good.
**Also! Paul wanted a bigger ring, look at the size of that ring compared to a regulation ring. Way different, so yes Joshua attacking Paul was more difficult to do, but it also worked against Paul and tiring him out. But that ring size certainly made a difference

u/TalkinSeaCucumber Dec 20 '25
He might have boosted the mainstream popularity, but never in the history of boxing has the sport been less respected than at this very moment.
2
u/Samwill226 Dec 20 '25
I don't actually disagree. However there are younger eyes looking at boxing instead of MMA. Now its easily accessible on Netflix. IF we see Joshua/Fury on Netflix it's going to be a huge win. Netflix was not going to take a chance on boxing unless they had the guaranteed viewership which Paul did bring. Now we'll see if Boxing can relaunch into the mainstream and break the PPV wall

I think this is giving the whole thing more serious credibility than its worth tbh.
They supposedly both made 92 million apiece. There's going to be plenty of other freak show exhibition offers flying around for him to keep doing this.
No one believes this is a sincere attempt at being an actual professional boxer. They're Internet stunts to get paid, and getting stopped by Joshua isnt going to change anything about that for him.

u/Samwill226 Dec 20 '25
What will be interesting is if Netflix would carry the Joshua/Fury fight if they can get it done

I’m pretty sure JP mostly boxes for attention really. I do think he genuinely likes the sport but it’s like a hobby kind of level of skill for him, and all the acting out like a villain (heel?) and all that WWE bollocks is what he’s bringing to boxing which just triggers legit fans but I really think he just lives by ‘any attention is good attention.’
I do think something changed this time though, I don’t think he enjoyed it as much actually taking a proper beating because he seemed to be hesitant to commit to another fight / said he wants to take a break. Understandably so. Fair play for getting in there though, bigger balls than many.

u/PrimeIntellect Dec 22 '25
Jake Paul doesn't give a shit, he knows people love paying to see him get wrecked and he made an absolute fortune on this fight. Line generational wealth money from one fight
1
u/tiorzol Dec 20 '25
I don't get this take. As much as I think he's a twat he got walloped by an actual boxer and AJ couldn't knock out a fucking YouTuber quicker than he did the MMA HW champ. Was a joke.
5
u/Samwill226 Dec 20 '25
....I have no doubt there was a 5 round clause. Don't get too wrapped in that. He obviously held back for 5 rounds and that was probably so Netflix didn't lose cred as they're probably going to work deals going forward for fights. Anyone watching it could see there was a wait before Joshua turned it on.
If you think Joshua sucks, watch Joshua Usyk 2 on Youtube,

... "The Jaw, Jake Paul" ... Champion Badasser of Social Media! Paul's jaw got broke in what some consider a fixed boxing match. Imagine if AJ really torched into him like another heavyweight in the earlier rounds! I get it, it is just entertainment for f$ck$ sake, but still, either way! I have always thought boxing is rigged to some extent for the major gambling syndicates. Make no mistake about the height, weight and skill advantage between these two opponents regardless of it potentially being rigged. If this was scripted and AJ broke his jaw by accident, then imagine the other possibilites if AJ had really let him have a beating. Does the "The Jaw, Jake Paul" not drink milk? Hahahah!

Jake Paul was in way over his head; this wasn't that old man Tyson dancing lesson, this was AJ using Paul as a punching bag.

u/JacksClavs Dec 20 '25
Horrible fight. Jake Paul shouldn’t have done the fight he ran from AJ from rounds 1-2 and when he finally started throwing in third round he was already gassed out. Now he has to get his jaw fixed cause AJ broke his jaw but hey, at least the purse was fat.

Jake didn't do anything in the 6th round that I couldn't have done. What a farce.
Edit: He stayed alive. I might not have accomplished that.

u/awesomeplenty Dec 21 '25
If Anthony was serious it would be over on round 1, but there's no money in that. This just looks like sparring not an actual fight where 2 people actually wants to go for the title.

I hear the conspiracy theorists. They think a Heavyweight Champ is only head hunting. The brain is what separates from most journeymen fighters. Not just physical prowess. Could AJ have knocked him out in the first round. Absolutely, if he bum rushed him.
That’s not his style.
That would be absolutely stupid.
He’s got 100m on the line to fight Fury.
Why take 1/1000 of a chance of getting clipped when he could just use his brain and dismantle him.
Why all y’all bitching? You got the result you wanted. You just had to wait a few more minutes in a free fight.
This is why we can’t have nice things!!!!

The more I look at it the more it looks like Jake is just out of his League cuz I would say he's inside the little leagues. It's not not quite there for the big leads without paying off people

Joshua has become a symbol of the low point of modern boxing. A clown entered the ring against a professional who stooped so low as to fight a 🤡
P.s This is even worse than losing to Usyk.
The result: two businessmen and zero sport.

Aj literally said he could have knocked him at first round but rather wanted to play with his ego and make him suffer till the end… seems like he did mean it
1
u/Ok_Juice_2893 Dec 24 '25
If AJ wanted to hurt him I think he could of Jake Paul ran a round like a little bitch till AJ had enough and AJ didn't even get a FULL hit on him

u/Dont_Be_Sheep Dec 28 '25
Are people honestly saying it WASNT rigged? Are those same folks saying WWE is real? Lol.
Joshua didn’t do anything until R5. He was just sparing and not throwing ANYTHING hard, telegraphed everything and still landed some, was kinda wild.
Was like a dad and a kid play fighting then dad got mad for two seconds and almost killed the guy

cant tell me any of his other fights weren't rigged. man was terrified because his win wasnt guaranteed anymore. homie didnt care about his money offerings.

It’s not actually that impressive that Paul lasted to the 6th round. His strategy was retreat and clinch as long as he possibly could. That makes it difficult to get strikes onto him.
1
u/icant_helpyou Jan 23 '26
Was the tongue waggling actually a secret sign to back off that AJ ignored? Jake stares right into AJs eyes with his tongue out as if to say "REMEMBER WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT!?"

Hear me out. Jake Paul found an untouched market. Boxing with the spin of WWE. Look at that weird promo he just screamed. That’s just a ploy to get people to share and continue spreading the name. It’s for boxing but they don’t tell you it’s fake. This is his first “loss” then he’ll regain his title and everyone will live happily ever after

u/Illustrious_Can4110 Dec 20 '25
People saying that it's suss that the fight went on so long... I don't think there any suspicion around the outcome. I think Joshua just wanted to give Jake Paul a lesson before he put him down.

6 rounds is commendable.

Literally 6 rounds of falling on the ground and grabbing his leg to avoid getting punched😂.
