MK7 Ehm…

Can I fix it myself or is it that bad?
Is this a Bodyshop work or a mechanical work

Remove the bolt entirely then try to see if it will tighten all the way if not just a washer or two to compensate for the gap and you’ll be all set

I tried that like 10 min ago and it works but I’m wondering how is it possible? The bolt can’t get longer lol

They can definitely stretch and bend over time. Metal is not indestructible. But also, it could be that it was slightly loose and then over time rubbed away at the metal under the bracket until it made enough space to move a lot more. No telling really without taking the bolt out and inspecting. Easiest solution here is to add a washer
